Mouse Moment;

Should gun owners be drug tested randomly?

I reject the premise that illegal drug users can also be "responsible, law-abiding" gun owners.

Give that some thought.

Illegal drugs are ......... Illegal. Sure they should be randomly drug tested. Just like welfare recipients should be randomly drug tested.

I've been thinking about that for a while, and when this thread popped back up on my tracker, I decided I was ready to give my opinion. As gun owner, it would not bother me in the least to be tested for illegal drugs. And to go a little further, I wouldn't object to testing for illegal drugs be made a part of the background check. Any type of drug abuse on record should also be used in the background check. I don't believe that to be the answer, though. And' to be honest, I don't have a clue as to what the answer would be, except much better parenting. I gues I'm just dense in some areas. Y'all have a good'n.

Thank you.

Personally, I think it wouldn't be that hard to treat gun ownership like automobile ownership. Register your guns annually and any transfer of sales must go through the revenue office.

Sure you do.

Even after this has been tried in Florida and rejected because it costed the state an enormous amount more omoney toi pay for drug testing the poor than just feeding them.

The amount of positive drug testing in that program resulted in less than 2%,... all negative tests results became the debt of taxpayers,..... along with providing the food stamps as well.

Of course you would back that "test 'em to feed 'em" rightwing nonsense.

Mouse Moment;

(repost)

If I were a song writer, I would go to Afghanistan. I would stay there with the men and women who wear our uniforms. I would not leave Afghanistan until I had written a complete album.

I would write songs about - missing home, friendship, succesful missions, loss of comrades, happy moments, bravery thru fear, and maybe one from the view of the other side. I'd write a song about a soldier who's yet to meet his son.

Then I would come home and market that album with all proceeds going towards helping those who come home after me.

I certainly wouldn't allow myself to be like a Toby Keith, Trace Adkins, or Kid Rock who profits millions of dollars per year on war songs under the fabricated pretense that they are doing something Patriotic.

I didn't have to read anything but the headlines to agree on that one. Some things just take precedence. Y'all have a good'n.

His entire story is a fascinating read of bravery through fear. I saw his eyes fill as the President summarized his actions on the battlefield that day.

E-mails of appreciation should flood this man's inbox. I hope someone reading this thread joins me in doing so.
