Dear Malcom. Since Cuba is such a paradise, and they have wonderful healthcare, and everyone is treated with all the deacencey and respect that is neglected in this horrible USA, then by all means leave and go live there. I promise you will not be missed. I doubt though if you are unhappy with how it works that you will be allowed to spew your anti cuba message on the internet without being shot or imprisoned, but hell i could be wrong.Good luck in that workers paradise, ill stay here

Dear Richard, your ignorance is making AmeriKKKa worse, and you are ruining my country. Nobody is saying that Cuba is better than Amerika, just their healthcare system... and frankly, I bet you neva even been to Cuba... that's just Glenn Beck dittohead crap. Get your own opinion.

You ever heard of a Worker Cooperative ?

That's Amerikan. I bet you got your hate for that too, eh?

And I know you wont have a real conversation with me but for those who actually want to have a meaningful talk... not those who just want to cloud the issue so much, just to get more republicans elected.

I know who you are ... you're a Republican! Republicans, now, leave my country. You've destroyed it enough, and it's time to go.

Funny thing about Cuba, that lil ole country was able to keep AmeriKKKa in check for 50 years... so there must be some power in the idea of Socialsm/Communism.

Never been to Cuba, Never wanted to go to Cuba, have no Desire to see Cuba, and dont even know any Cubans. And trust me you know more about Beck than i ever would. As far as their heathcare system? Tell me one advances medical treatment that has been established in Cuba? One disease that has been cured in Cuba. One medicine that has saved lives that has been developed in Cuba. U cant so dont bother. Cuba the healthcare capital of the world. U get great healthcare there and so much more freedom to stand in a city park and complain about the govt . As i said, u hate it so much here, and u hate the govt and u personally hate the white race. By all means head south brother. Makes me wonder about a country that so many people in it would rather face death in a 90 mile boat ride than stay there. Wonderful paradise

Canada's healthcare system is better, it's just the fact that Cuba has healthcare. Amerika is the only industrialized nation in the world that doesn't have universal healthcare... that's cuz the govt is there to instill fear in us, for the monied interests, and use us as cannon fodder, and cheap labor.

And why don't you want to see Cuba ? You ain't curious ? I haven't been much outta Kentucky, but I hear there's whole others worlds out there... hell, West Virginia would feel like Cuba to me, and those backwards hicks ain't got a lick a healthcare !

i hav traeled many places in the USA including West Virginia (shithole) and have no desire to travel outside of the US except for Ireland
We could have universal healthcare. But to have it it has to be paid for someway. Guess how it would happen? Thats right. MUCH higher taxes. thats not including the fact that workers have to make up for the ones that do not want to work but want to live off the govt tit. Im not talking about the folks that have lost their jobs because of a sour economy. Im talking about the useless bastards that refuse to work becauase they wont get clean, wont quit drinking and wont get off their lazy asses and try to do somethign when they have as much ability as any one else. And dont think im ragging on any demographic. I have 2 people in my family near my age who are useless and wont even try because the govt has their big hand out to give them whatever they need.

Every 10 seconds, in Amerika, there's a foreclosed house due to medical bills. They have to declare medical bankruptcy, because they go in, get an operation, can't pay for it, and then they lose their house.

Brereton Jones was for Universal Healthcare in Kentucky during the early 1990s, so the idea has been around for quite some time. It's just now with Obama, there's this "racist" feel with all of the "socialist" b.s.

Last point, cuz I doubt really anything will change your mind, but I was arguing with a working class Republican, and he was basically giving the same argument you are, it's my taxes, and I dont want my taxes used for them, and I asked him what his daughter was on, and he said Medicaid and WIC and Food Stamps. In fact, he was happy with the services he was getting from the government, since they were for his daughter, he was proud. But what a hypocrite ! How can he get mad about what he is getting ! And that's how it is with Universal Healthcare. I dont like to be mandated to buy private insurance, I want public healthcare, but we're on the right track. Because it's privatized, Americans, on the whole, pay more for our healthcare than places with Universal healthcare... so having it here, would make it cheaper, for most of us... plus it's good for Joe Q Public, and for Joe Q Businessman, what business wants to be forced to provide insurance to their employees ? Just seems like everybody wins. Had Obama started government healthcare, if it really was ObamaCare, I would have signed up immediately, because I know that the government would be able to outcompete these insurance companies, who are chargin outrageous rates for just a piece of paper... just like Car Insurance in Kentucky, but I hear absolutely nobody complaining about the car insurance mandate... which is total bullshit !

Johnny not everything is racist and about Obama. If u were the John Masters in the newspaper tuesday then u are 28 yrs old right? You are too young to remember the fight that come up when Bill and Hillary pushed hard for it in Bills first term around 93-94 if memorey serves. The reason this is more known is because it passed. and because the govt will FORCE people to buy it. and another thing. Im a union member and we just had a contract renewal, The cost of insurance for me and my company went up 29.3%. It is all because of the new healthcare law. Dont ever think anything is free. They will get it from the backs of the workign man. Now social security and medicare. The govt doesnt give me that. I and my employer pay for that. 4.2 % of my wages and the company puts in 6.2% into SS and we both put in i believe it is 1.8 % in medicare. So pelase dont think im getting a damn thing from the govt. I PAY FOR IT.

You can feel better about SS and Medicare because you do put money into the system, but it's a ponzi scheme, and so actually I'm paying for your SS and Medicare... at least Social Security, I know how that works. The money that is paid out is the same money that is put into the system.

I remember Bill Clinton's healthcare law, and it's another reason I'm glad Obama passed something... if he didn't, we wouldn't get another chance for another 15 years. Healthcare is a human right, and for the government to not be caring for our health, that is to say they don't care for our lives, which I'm beginning to doubt... with food stamps, unemployment benefits ,etc being cut, I think we're being starved out, and not even maliciously... it's in the interest of a Capitalistic system to keep some class of folks in the subservient class, so we need to keep some folks poor, because somebody's gotta make our hamburgers, and take out our trash.

I mean, doesn't it seem odd that Amerika, the richest country in the world, is the only industrialized nation that doesn't have Universal Healthcare ? But we got plenty of cash for Wars for Empire, and Big Banks, and not nearly enough for the unions, who support working families, historically, and currently... but now Wisconsin is declaring a war on the workers... a critical mass has been reached in Amerika, and something does have to give. So being smart without our money I'm not against. If cuts need to be made, then make them. But cut out the killings. Cut out the rich people loopholes. Cut out corporate influence. Let's keep our health.

Outta curiousity, how much healthcare costs go up for you, personally ? Like $100 ? What does 30% equate to ?

I'm not saying "ObamaCare" is perfect, in fact, I feel like it doesn't go far enough. The mandate is fine, the government is always telling us what to do, and not to do. The idea is to mandate everybody to buy government insurance, because with a huge pool of folks, that insurance would be cheap as hell, and it would! Which is why I'd buy government healthcare the day it came out. Being 29 years old, I don't go to the doctor... ever, unless I'm about to die, which was only once, 5 years ago, and since then, nada. That's not healthy. That's not smart. I haven't been part of a job with benefits, and you know what, it would nice to get a check up every once in awhile. We had to get check ups in order to go to school, and had to get a physical in order to play sports, so there was some concern with my health. In this free market system, when I say that I don't have insurance, that's automatic eye rolls, and subpar care. I'd love me some Universal Healthcare.

John my healthcare went up over 1,300.00 per yr. About $26.00 a week and i only got a $2.00 a week raise. That was just this yr. we have 2 more yrs remaining on this contract and it is suspected that my preniums will rise another $22.00 a week by the end of this deal.I make a decent wage but it is being attacked at all times.
What scares me about the mandate require insurance is this. I pay 92.66 a week in healthare insurance. That is roughly 25% of the cost. Which means my employer pays $277.98 a week or $14,454.96 a yr. In the mandate my employer can drop me, and the rest of us employees, pay a $1,500.00 fine and force me unto the Govt roles. They would save over $12,000 per yr. Now why do i want that? Im sorry for all of those that do not have healthcare. The insurance companies, the pharmceutical companies and the govt have conspired to make medical car ein this country had to pay for. If the govt needs to step in they need to regulate these industries into better and more fiscally sound entities.
