I can tell you that this # or any other will not do any good. I know this information, as I am required to report almost daily in my job. I have witnessed personally DCBS turn the head to ignore child neglect. I always get a response it is "lifestyle". We need to contact lawmakers of Ky. DCBS needs to be held accountable for our children. PLEASE help our children.....many are suffering!!!
I have heard the same response it is ďlifestyle & cultureĒ what ever! If you donít report the issues you see, they certainly wont be looked into. Donít turn a blind I to the children you see at your job! I would say if you work with kids it is your obligation by law to report issues. It certainly is your morale obligation!

There is a big problem with the system. Not only do I see it with the CPS workers but I see the Lawyers the opinion the kids doing nothing and the Judges over the case turning a blind eye too. I think they are just as much to blame as CPS and even the Parents of the kids.

People if you want to help report it! If you really want to help become a part of the solution and take action other that a blog!

For this simple fact,I am ashamed to call myself a Kentuckian! I know people that abuse the system(get free rent, food stamps, medical cards)perfectly capable people that can work but choose to VOLUNTEER because that is what the case worker tells them to do,work or volunteer. Pretty sad someone chooses to volunteer so they can get free stuff mooching off of the state instead of getting your lazy *ss out and get a job(like everyone else has to)! Why would these drug addicts do anything different? They are allowed to keep everything they have and don't have to work one day out of the year...All they have to do is sell food stamps or whatever to pay a bill or get drugs. SAD,is all it is...if I don't work,I would lose my house, car, have no utilities or have anything at all..but no,they get to sit at home, acting like babies or something cause they dont WANT to work...If you choose not to work and can afford it,that's FINE..but dont choose NOT TO WORK and get handouts every single month!
And as for these kids getting protected...you tell me how SMART and SAFE it is that when social services is going to investigate someone, they let them know when they are coming...Now that's real smart! The Kentucky legal/juducial system(well the LEGAL/JUDICIAL system in general) is so corrupt and LAZY that no one is safe anymore.

Now before anyone starts jumping to conclusions, I'm not saying ALL persons on government assistance is crackheads or abusing it...I myself had foodstamps and a medical card for 3 yrs! BUT,I went to school to give my kids a better life and we no longer need any of that today! My problem is people that have been getting the assistance for 10+ years, you tell me why in the world you can't better yourself or your life in that amount of time? You can almost COMPLETE school in that amount of time. This right here shows why the system is stupid...put a freaking limit on how long you can draw this stuff! AND, after you've had so many kids, don't keep adding more benefits/food stamps to it...cut them off at about 4 kids...maybe then these girls will stop popping all these kids out just for a monthly check!
I'm tired of people acting like someone OWES them something when all they are are lazy bums who don't want to work...GUESS WHAT,DON'T HAVE KIDS IF YOU DON'T WANT TO SUPPORT THEM!
It amazes me that we as citizens can see this but the government can not or choices not to. Our country will continue to go in to debt and will continue to have starving, homeless people as long as all the DRUG ADDICTS are allowed assistance...hey,guess what...I had to take a drug test for my job,why can't you drug test people getting assistance?
While I'm on it...disability checks...I know 2 people that fought for YEARS to get disability because they needed it,they were denied! They even worked for 20+ years before applying...but you know who gets that...the ones that go and ACT like they are crazy cause they are too d**n lazy to work!

To set the record straight....we in CPS do not like hearing that KY leads in these areas as well. I have worked for the state for 14 years and have worked with low salaries, no services, media assasination and feedback from you guys that do not know what the hell you are talking about. I have worked tirelessly at all hours of the day, nights, weekends, holidays, driven through snow storms to get to a home, fought legislators to change laws, taken time from my family, ignored my own health issues, all for the sake of protection of children that the PARENTS harm and the relatives and neighbors, didnt want to interfere. I have been forever affected by child fatalities but continue the fight EVERYDAY. I know you are frustrated but so are we.....hold those responsible that deserve it...quit pointing the finger at CPS. there are no incentives to CPS workers to hang in there (only their compassion and devotion to change)as they are "damned if they do, and damed if they dont"......imagine this world without us....quit blaming us and help us to get more resources. there are a few workers, as with any profession, that are burned out and need to rethink their options....but the majority of us are committed and are doing the absolute best we can.

It may be fair to say that some CPS workers are doing their best to work out abuse problems, despite lack of personnel, funds, etc. But as far as the town of Albany, Ky., goes, the former CPS worker did not go to any great length to work on a child molestation case (incest), because the parties involved were all involved with the CPS worker by inter-marrying amongst the families. This type situation is tragic because the child (victim) suffers from all the trauma, and doesn't get the justice. From what I have heard, this person no longer is with CPS, and it's a good thing, because her contribution, at least in this case was totally worthless. When the offending people have committed crimes against children, they need to be prosecuted and serve out the punishment. This doesn't happen in Albany, and these incest offenders still go free. One of these days, these evil individuals will get caught and I hope they get fried (and even that's not enough) for what they have done to children.

This is the courts and family services faults. Kentucky courts are still are so far behind, they still think the best place for a child is the mother, if you read the facts most abuse and sex abuse is done in the mother's home by men they bring in. Family Services is a joke in Ky, if you report something you better have proof, pictures, to prove it happened, you can'y call and say I've watched and I think something is going on. they will not investigate anything unless you have proof, I know this is what I was told when I called and reported that I thought a mother was drinking and partying with the child in the home, I didn't have proof or a date in other word they are not going to look into anything unless you have done their work for them, while in the meantime a child is being abused. They think more assistant is the answer, no so this give them more money to party with. I know a mother that has went to great lenghts to try and get her child declared with some sort of disabilty so she will be eilgible for more assistance so she doesn't have to work even though she gets child support. Now if your a father forget it child services and courts in Ky still believe a father is dirt and the only thing their good for is to pay child support. Go figure Ky is still called the backwoods redneck state...real nice image.
I disagree as of right now I have custody of both of my kids because of social services. I do agree it seems to take forever for them to make up their minds on what's gonna happen. I can't sign my divorce papers because my wife wants joint custody and social services has given me custody for now and so i'm told to not sign these papers. I want this damn divorce over and cant afford a lawyer and she beat me to legal aid...I agree they could re-vamp the system but fathers do get more rights as long as you have proof....

The fact of the matter is that KY leads the state in this area, and is a direct reflection of CPS and the Lawyers and Judges in this state. I though you may work hard and care about the kids the majority donít seem to care and donít address the issues they see. I have seen many that handle themselves with little or no professionalism.

It is also your office that was highlighted in the article about the death of this little girl in Winchester. If the DPS workers are burned out what is being done about it? Is there mental state effecting the welfare of the children?

The DPS offices will always put the parentís rites in front of the kids that are being abused. DPS need to insure in all cases that the kids are protected. This is just not happening. The parents should be treated as if they lost there rites until they prove different. The kidís rites should be first and not an after thought! Your training and directive is to try to reunite the kids with the parents. This is the attitude that makes KY first.

just saying01......i am not a worker in the office you refer to. I will not debate this issue any longer. This is why children are not protected. We do not do enough, or we do too much. Depends on if its you or your family as to which end of the spectrum it might be at any particular time. The problem is that social service programs are the first to be cut and the last to be recognized as important when budgeting services and staff. Spend your energy fighting that, not those of us out there everyday, fighting under those circumstances. Who would want to put up with this constant assasination?????? I will tell you, caring individuals. The majority of us are......

Please know this, in regards to the case you refer to in Winchester......the Cabinet cannot release any information so people make judgements about what they think was done or not done. You have no idea, and I do. NO ONE could have ever predicted that that beautiful child would have been beaten by her parents.
