I must admit I did hammer away at Ancient Wolf and the bird crew last year and the year before. I accused him of being a drunkard and a tight wad, made fun of his ancient pipe called OJG a lush, raised Abeliever's ire on a regular basis and generally made a hybrid farm animal out of myself the whole time. I started in on anne for no good reason but caught myself.
Being Sunday I would like to point out that all was forgiven by these people and we have chatted away off and on ever since, that shows me a lot.
I know AW is not a drunkard now.....and the tightwad thing...no harm no foul on that one, I guess! LOLOLOLOL
Good day to you qwerty.
I'm no saint myself.

Glad to see back from hiatus.

Awwww, imposter, time changes things and its all good!! But I have a big question! I TOLD Helter Pete I'd be on diamond head on a certain date and thought for sure he'd show!:-(
Alas, I was a day late myself though. Met an 89 year old man walking to the top that day. He had been stationed there in 1941 and every year he makes that strenuous walk.
Now, you think our ole buddy AW may be a tightwad? Nah, no way! Lol. I've set him up as a role model and have tightened my belt on the spending money thing. We're getting ready to downsize on the income thing and .....sigh. I'll just eat eggs and buy a jar of peanut butter.maybe eat a fish or two from the pond.. I'd better learn to fix spring poke like grandma did.
I'm sorry Anne girl I had already jumped the water taking pete along with for the ride. I had some things to see and do and still have a few left to see and do before...you know.
I'm thankful that we both have found a way to ...go on pilgrimages? Even though in my case it was only a bit of what I hope to do. I plan to leave again in a month or so and go wherever whim leads.

EH I always did like you- you old bean-head.
I miss the comical bird horoscopes, remember? The funniest ones were borderline explicit .

Looks like the storm has hit in the form of a thunderstorm here. If that was snow there would already be 6 inches on the ground.

Yeah, well, I don't get to travel as much as I like but hope to do more later this year. Better half says he's interested in Tonga, of all places! I'm game! I prefer to head north for summer trips and we do if we have the two requirements. That being time and money--at the same time! Lol. It's easy to dream (that parts free!) on this winter day! The ice on the trees is simply beautiful from the warm side of the window! Lol

I would like to see India and the Alps from there, and that big mahol thing old todge built over there, I'd like to visit Iceland someday too. Tonga sounds like a winner too.
That view out the living room window will be waiting when you get back, I miss mine some when I'm away.
I need'nt have worries about putting in feed corn this year, I have nothing left to feed!

We have to stop living for everyone else at some point and get in a little "self serving".
Living for others is a fine thing I guess, but its a hard habit to break, ask AW.

I'm on ky's most eastward boarder with Virginia at a pretty high elevation and its still rain here. I hope the ice doesn't take out the power tonight, I'm planning on watching that walking dead show later.

Nothing here so far except rain and my little creek is rolling. But it is getting colder out (or so it seems) when I went to do evening chicken chores. We did have church this morning but attendance was off a little. Many folks were sick and others were already in the winter storm watch mood. LOL

Afterwards, I stopped by the Dollar Store to laugh at about 20 people who were panicing over the remaining flashlights and batteries and one guy got irate and left when there were no more D cells. I guess he also forgot to join the Boy Scouts when he was younger hehehe

All I wanted was some chocolate cup cakes. I already had ample toilet paper and milk.

@Imposter.. I am not even trying to break the habit of living for others. In fact, it is about the only reason that I live. I have been just about everywhere I ever wanted to go and done about everything I ever wanted to do.

I worked some part time last week and received such a blessing this morning when I gave away most of what I had earned after I recovered my expenses. My retirement covers my normal expenses and my funeral is already paid for, so what is left?.... Just others. But that does not mean that I just hand it out to just anybody, but only to those that I know for sure are in need. I can easily pass up the moochers. I have no problem with giving a hand up, just not a hand out.

My motto is: Take advantage once, shame on you. But take advantage twice, shame on me.

Just finished the chicken chores here. The hinge on the chicken pen was covered with ice so I stood in the sleeting rain beating the ice off. The ladies were excited when I threw some cracked corn on the floor. Got one egg today!
Trauma drama when I received a text about an unauthorized charge on my card. Somehow my info was on the grand kids DS and they hit a purchase button. Soooo, that card was cancelled and a new one ordered. Problem solved.
@imposter: Labrador & Newfoundland - not been there but would like To. I've seen the Swiss alps. Loved Switzerland and all the farm animal bells. We really need places where English is easily found... Phone translator apps would do the trick I think. Aruba?? The lady that owns the local super 8 takes her family there and loves it! So many possibilities and I can't even get to Walmart safely tonight ! Lol

Well,......I'll just add my 2 cents worth here on the weather. Been softly raining and thunder'n all day and evening. It's 12:58 A.M., very early Mon. morning and I just looked out the back door,........light rain still. The big round thermometer on the side of an oak tree said 30*. It was 63* this morning but is supposed to go down to 19* tonight. It'll be slick in the morning all right! The Belle will probably stay home.......oh well! I'd rather she did than chance it. Her Miata is like a tin can on a frozen pond..........and about that safe.

Traveling.......... I can kinda fit myself to ole Hank Snow's song about "Everywhere" but the most peaceful, layed-back, calm and relaxed place I've ever been is Jamaica. Think I've said that before but it sure sounds GREAT this time of cold and frozen days. But.....can't change the weather (but we can get out of it!)

@MM... "No Problem, Mon".... even with my soft rain having now ( 4:30 am EST) turned to 2 to 3 inches of snow and still coming.... All I need to do today is put on the rubber boots and check in on the chickens and unlike Ernest Tubb... I won't be Moving ON, nor will I be Walking the Floor.

It would be good but I don't have any of that, so I will just have to survive on Maxwell House.

Local weather reports 8.7 inches of snow and that must be accurate. I have some 8 inch concrete blocks out by my drive way that are completely covered.

No school for us tomorrow! We did get some snow, but only a couple of inches. What makes it so treacherous is the ice underneath that snow! The county did scrape the roads and the sun did its work on several sections of the road--just not enough for the busses to be safe.
Grandchild wanted to go to Half Price Books store so we did. Pretty cool store and prices were really good! On our way through the country roads the trees absolutely glittered with their ice diamonds ! I stopped more than once to get a picture! Most spectacular!

WELL,......Surprise,....surpri se! It did snow......finally in the wee hours of last night but only enough to sorta cover the ground. It's currently 28* at 1:41 A.M. so that little bit will last till tomorrow afternoon. The roads did ice over some so the Belle stayed home today which was good. We're about 25 miles S.E. of Memphis and we missed the worst weather but some 40 miles southwest of here over in Tunica County (casinos) there are some 40 power lines down from frozen sleet and rain so says the news. Now you know those people are not happy. Last year (& the year before that and.....) I said I wouldn't raise any more tomatoes but they sure sound pretty good about now.

@ Wolf........"No problem, mon).........you've heard that, too, huh? Ha!

I am pretty much stranded here in the boondocks with all this snow, but that is okay....... I don't need to go over the river and through the woods to Grandmother's house we go and I don't have a horse to know the way to carry the sleigh through the white and drifting snow. Besides, I don't like Pumpkin Pie anyways. So I won't have to say "Hurrah for Pumpkin Pie".

The county has not gotten around to my road yet, probably have plenty of roads where it is more populated and there are more voters.

@MM.. Your area (near SouthHaven) once had so much ice it took me 4 hours to go 10 miles. Yes I have heard "No Problem, Mon".. I flew there sitting adjacent to Percy Sledge and did not know who he was until we landed and all the natives greeted us. He was going to do a Concert. That was about 20 years ago. This 8 inches of snow makes the place seem most enticing right now. LOL
