Oh, Mississippi Man! What darling g'kids! Snaggle toothed and all!! Lol! They do grow so fast. They are a lot of fun - and a lot of work. It's wonderful to spend time with them and listen to their adventures. With the holidays, the food, the excitemt , the gifts--what a wonderful family time! It's also a great time to slow down, to enjoy a good book, to listen to music, eat some chili and grilled cheese, burrow down into the covers and sleep an extra hour! God is so Good!!

This old hermit lives in a clearing at the end of the trail adjacent to 600 acres of woods. I have also seen things: A chicken hawk that ate one of my hens right about dusk, a coyote that passed by, raccoons with their shiny eyes, outlines of deer in the shadows, screaming screech owls, and many more.

But none of these are nearly as scary as trying to leave the comforts of my cabin after dark when I can't see all that well to drive at night and have people wanting to tailgate so close that I cant even see their headlights behind me and I am already running the speed limit and refuse to drive any faster than I can see what lies ahead. I suppose some of those younger people with better eyes have just never had the opportunity to know a County Coroner or Med-Evac helicopter pilot that had numerous pictures of the dead along the side of the road. Even a few decapitated and the head laying 30 to 40 yards away from the accident. Now that is scary.

Well, no Satanists or members of the Ordoro Luciferi here. Hmmm,an understanding or knowledge that Folks have different spiritual beliefs or ideals is called agreeing to disagree. Like it was said to me one time,' It would be so boring if everyone was like you. Be glad of the difference.' Diversity, America is a wonderful country! Happy Holidays!

@AW. Your first post did paint a horrific picture that I won't dwell on buy the second post is just amazing and so wonderful! I can just see the little ones with the bags of Christmas treats. Sometime in the far future as adults they may still remember going to some "grandpas " house, way out in the country and eating a big ole meal then getting a bag with fruit and nuts. They will also remember the candy treats you keep in your jacket pocket. What memories you are making! Oh what a wonderful day you had!

Lotsa rain around here and my little farm pond is full. Absolutely full! But the water is so brown and muddy. Hard to believe that the cats were running out on the pond ice just a few days ago!!

Haven't heard of any ' monsters' except those under the beds and in the closets. Along the the creeks, well might be some snakes in the grasses or some really bushy bearded fellows. Now, there are supposedly elves in Iceland. Now, I'm thinking those are pretty accurate stories or else I have a mischievous gremlin that sneaks around the house hiding things. Hehehe.

If I had a cup of Joe, it would have gone flying. ROFL. So true, especially for all the cowardly criminals hiding around the corners.

My old hen's a good old hen
She lays eggs for the railroad men
Sometimes one, sometimes two
Sometimes enough for the whole damn crew

Chorus
Cluck old hen, cluck and sing
Ain't laid an egg since way last spring
Cluck old hen, cluck and squall
Ain't laid an egg since way last fall

My old hen, she won't do
She lays eggs and 'taters too
Sometimes nine, sometimes ten
That's enough eggs for the railroad men

My old hen, she's raised on a farm
Now she's in the new ground diggin' up corn
The first time she cackled, she cackled a lot
Next time she cackled, she cackled in the pot

Had a little hen, she had a wooden leg
The best darn hen that ever laid an egg
Laid more eggs than any hen around the barn
Another little drink wouldn't do me any harm

I woke up with a hymn playing in my head. I drank some coffee and headed for the piano for some prayer time .

Fill My Cup

Like the woman at the well, I was seeking
For things that could not satisfy.
And then I heard my Savior speaking—
Draw from My well that never shall run dry.
Fill my cup, Lord
I lift it up Lord
Come and quench this thirsting of my soul.
Bread of Heaven, feed me till I want no more.
Fill my cup, fill it up and make me whole.
There are millions in this world who are seeking
For pleasures earthly goods afford.
But none can match the wondrous treasure
That I find in Jesus Christ my Lord.
So my brother if the things that this world gives you
Leave hungers that won’t pass away,
My blessed Lord will come and save you
If you kneel to Him and humbly pray
