Wrap some thin mono fishing line around the hook shank then push it down until it's against the barb, it will no longer snag and you can pull out the fish hook with little pain. A little late yes, but now you know,, don't ask how I know.
Thanks, I will remember that for the next time that there is a mishap. How is pup doing. Still hididng biscuits around the house. Hang in there, it will change shortly.

For the BIRDS:

Birds grow bigger beaks to attract potential mates: Study

Picture: The Smithsonian compared bill size among sparrows to see how it affected mating habits.(Ray Danner)

If you’re a single bird comparing potential mates, size matters. At least, that’s what the results from a recent study suggest.

According to the study, certain species of birds even experience beak growth during mating season.
Conducted by researchers from the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute and published in the latest issue of Ecology and Evolution, the study compared beak size and growth by examining X-rays from thousands of horny bills (no pun intended) belonging to a species of tidal marsh sparrows.

“Traditionally, we’ve viewed bill size in terms of how it helps birds eat,” Russell Greenberg, head of SCBI’s Migratory Bird Center and paper co-author, said in a release from the Smithsonian.“By looking at the infrastructure of bird bills using X-rays, we discovered that male bill sizes change seasonally, suggesting that bills play a role in mating and fighting as well."

The beaks are able to experience growth during mating season because they are made of keratin, not bone, said the study, making them similar to fingernails on people. Interestingly, both the male and female bills grow during mating season, though the male bills tend to be larger and experience more substantial growth. The male bills studied were largest during the late spring and smallest during the winter months.

According to the Smithsonian, the study results match a similar study conducted by Washington’s National Zoo last summer, which looked at bill sizes of two subspecies of song sparrows.

We are happy about that...feel free to "Move on" yourself. Try the 3 randpaul sites going on since Oct 2010, do you think they are still talking about the paul/conway debates or a woman getting her head stomped on????
Never mind about the Rand Paul sites. I happen to like politics. Maybe in my next life I will run for something, other than the toilet. LOL. BTW, I looked at your animal photos and videos and they are very cute. I always click on the links you post. Also, while I remember, please continue to monitor that Louisiana sinkhole. That a whole lot of problem they have down there. I don't think people realize how dangerous and far-reaching it could be. I also looked at some of the recent reports on Fukushima(spelling?) Japanese people have more to worry about that their government isn't telling them. It is also a potential problem for all who live in the northern hemisphere. We are getting elevated radioactive readings in the states, too. Not too terrible right now, but remember, radioactivity is cumulative.

Makes sense now doesn't it? The same type of things go on in humans. Lips subconsciously trigger a sexual response. Why else does a woman want that "puffy" lip thing going on, and paint their lips red, etc.

Believe me I don't mind those randpaul sites, it is just a reference for those thinking this thread is useless since the birds aren't dropping dead anymore, nothing more. There is three of them and ONE bird thread that has continued on the top of forums that seems to bother people. haha

I will continue to monitor those sinkholes like the earthquakes. There may be a connection and they are a serious threat to all states, not just Louisiana. Very disturbing.

I never believed the truth was being given on that nuclear reactor in Japan after than enormous earthquake. Very disturbing indeed. Plus, I am still seeing the planes spraying. There were two out yesterday zipping across the sky with their chemtrails above the big fluffy clouds in that beautiful blue sky. That disturbs me too. Still think it is possibly shielding us from flares, emp attack etc...or simply just messing with the weather. Many have said after they spray it rains, I am seeing that as a fact pretty much. It usually does rain the next day or two after.

@ Blueminer. I am glad the surgery went well. but your Dad will require some special attention for a while and I will continue to pray for Caregiver strength and support.

My father-in-law had a similar procedure and kept forgetting that the leg was missing from the knee down and would get out of bed to go to the bathroom and fall. My wife eventually had a nervous breakdown that ruined her own health and our finances.

I just got back from the Veterans Admin where I had an appointment with the vampire.

I cannot believe the woman that have that butt fat implanted into their lips to look like Mick Jagger. hahaha It has ruined some beautiful women in my opinion. I would never do that if I even had the chance. As we age it appears our lips go thinner. Who cares? Some women are so vain. They have products out that swell your lips for a "fuller look" that makes you look like a bee stung you on the mouth. They crack me up. Makes me think of Glen Campbell's song hahaha:

"you painted up your ruby lips and curled your tinted hair"....

I saw an actress recently (Goldie Hawn I think) and she had her lips done and I kept thinking its so unattractive. A sexy pouty lip is one thing looking like sucked on a vacuum for 4 hours-- not do much

No, actually I did not think that big burly vampire was easy on the eyes at all, but he was easy with the needle in my arm and refrained from chomping down on my neck. LOL

Sure was good to get back home to my coffee that I had waiting. Why is it when we can't have something, that is the very thing we panic about. I rarely ever eat or drink after midnight, but when they told me I could not; I spent most all night wanting a sandwich and a Coca Cola. LOL

I agree. She and many others have ruined their "growing old gracefully" look. Guess they are all going for the "Angelina" look.

haha, sorry she wasn't a sweet young thing that smiled big, smelled great, and handled you gently. That always made my dad feel better. He didn't like the big burly guys. haha

I agree about the coke and sandwich. It is always when they tell you that you "can't" that your cravings amp up. Why is that? haha

Glad you are home and back to your coffee and comfort.

Just got my daily dose of old man junk mail. I think the worst thing I ever did was sign up for AARP some time back which I cancelled but still get all the junk.

I got an advertisement for a cure for ED and another for a hearing aid. If I got a stiffy, I would surely not want to listen to it. hehehehe

Yep Russia got tapped by a space rock. We will doubtless hear some theories on this but I think one that big about had to been spotted by researchers, so I'm down with someone knew and it was kept quiet to maintain sheeple peace. If we can land a probe on one we can spot a meteor that big I'm sure. Looking forward to seeing some of the shots of the impact site.
They had to be aware of it. Something that large and flaming. I do believe a lot of what happens is a cover up. Can't have the masses becoming uncontrollable. It's like a war zone waiting to happen. And nothing to prevent it. However, I think we as citizens have a right to know so we can protect ourselves and loved ones.

Hi Bird peeps. Hope everyone had a good "V" day. I was forgotten about by everyone who knows me in real life. Go figure... No flowers, not one card in the mail box, not even a short but simple phone call for Nopie.... Oh well..

Blue, I'm SO glad your father is well. I prayed for you all. It looks like the Lord decided to do more than just heal your father, he decided it was time to heal your family too!

Two times in my life I've had surgeries on "V" day myself. Both of those surgeries were on my spine.
(LOL, no flowers sent to me while I was in the hospital then either, hehe. I guess I'm just one of those "forgotten about" kind of people and not one of the "unforgettable")!

So what about that meteor that hit Russia today?? WHY weren't they able to know that one was coming? Did they know, but decide to keep it quiet to avoid mass hysteria perhaps?? I know that the news is reporting on thousands of injuries so far. The videos are quite unnerving, to say the least. Even a roof collapsed on a factory. Windows were blown out for many, many, miles.

Here is one of the videos sets. Allow the first one to complete and another one will follow automatically:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/02/15/mete...

Pretty scary stuff considering that there was NO warning given about this incoming meteor.. Yet the scientific near miss of asteroid DA14 was televised for months. Why wasn't anyone told of THIS one?? I still say it was to keep mass hysteria down..

Daily Horoscope for May 21

Scorpio

It's a frustrating and rather disappointing day because you have to cope with delays and setbacks to your plans. A travel arrangement may have to be postponed or there could be a hitch about something connected with education. You're also feeling subdued and tired, and you're longing to spend some time on your own although this may not be possible. Don't worry, this difficult mood will soon blow over.
