Karl Marx on the Civil War

I found a quote I liked that Karl Marx said about the Civil War. "Drake" asserted that the Civil War was a "Communist Revolution", which I am not inclined to believe. Land Reform is actually a capitalistic measure. When you give the people something to fight for, they want the freedom to do with their land as they please. We all need 40 acres and a mule.

Karl Marx shows how the Emancipation Proclamation frees all the slaves in Rebellion, and how there was a law passed that freed all newly born Black children, and then there was the Homestead Act, where 160 acres of land were given to folks who wanted it, or European immigrants who wanted it, who filled out an application, and who would promise to take care of the land for 5 years. Lots of white folks signed up, and Lincoln passed out Western lands as if they were his, and not the Native Americans.

While this free land giveaway can be considered "Communistic", for us the people to actually get free, we need land. We all need land. And it's actually an anti-Communist measure. When people have land, then they become conservatives, because they want to keep their property. When you're a renter, property doesn't matter as much.

"Thus, no matter how the dice may fall in the fortunes of war, even now it can safely be said that Negro slavery will not long outlive the Civil War." ~Karl Marx, 1862

It really is communist because of eminant domain. None of us truly owns our land. We might have a piece of paper that say its ours, but if the government wants it, they take it.

Communism is something very specific. It's "perfect" Socialism. Karl Marx thought the Revolution would happen in Capitalist countries, but it hasn't. It's been in poor countries. Land Reform was enacted in Bolivia, and if it was Communistic, then it would have been collectively owned... like in a commune. But if you give individuals their own land, then it's private property, so therefore, it's Capitalistic.

I also think you're confusing your arguments up a bit. You don't ever truly own your own land because of property tax, which is ever present. Eminent domain is where the government can take your land, but only for a "public purpose", and with "just compensation", so if it truly wasn't yours, then you wouldn't be paid for it.

Acts 11:29 (KJV)
Then the disciples, every man according to his ability, determined to send relief unto the brethren which dwelt in Judaea:

Acts 2:45 (KJV)
And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men , as every man had need.

Acts 4:35 (KJV)
And laid them down at the apostles' feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need.

Hmmm?

Where is my post?
I don't think he was a full blown communist cause I dont think he would support people being forced to give but at the same time I'm pretty sure he wasn't a greedy capitalist like American "churches" teach.

Where do they get the $ for "just compensation" from? That's right, the people.

U in G-town, or Louisville ? B/c here in Louisville, it was the poor South End whites who protested integration the hardest, during the 1975 Mini-Civil War here in Louisville. That was just a few decades ago... and recently, the Supreme Court was trying to undermine those very same efforts.
