You are wrong here. Since 1956, one Lankan political party leader SWRD Bandaranayake wanted to bring 'Singhela Only' policy meaning everything is in Singhela Language and Lanka is for only Singhela people. Since then, the Buddhist Hirarchy started to preach to hate the Indigneous Tamil speaking population and Muslim Population. 1958,1977,1983 were the 3 major genocidal Communal Riots carried out by the Monks to kill the Indigenous People.
After 1983 riots, Indra Gandhi has decided to help the Tamil speaking Indigenous People; even that one Tamilnadu Chief Minister M G Ramachandran asked her to do so.
Indra Gandhi was a good woman, leader, humaine and Clever.
What is wrong with making Sinhala the official language of Sri Lanka? Doesn't the Sinhalese people have a right to have their language as the official language in their island? Tamils already have a state where Tamil is the official language. Also in 1956 language act enough room for the use of Tamil language for the Tamil people was given.
Tamil has been made official in 1987, after the LTTE started killing the Sinhalese. But that didn't help much. The demands just got worse....
I really do not think it is a right of the Tamils to have Tamil made official in this island, which has been a Sinhala country all throughout history. This is like making Tamil official in Andhra or Karnataka. Totally unfair. Tamil fanatics never wanted peace, they just wanted to sabotage everything, claiming very unfair things, as rights.
Tamil Nadu = Tamil
Kerala = Malayalam
Karnataka = Kannada
Andhra Pradesh = Telegu
Maharashtra = Marathi
Orissa = Oriya
Punjab = Punjabi
Sri Lanka = Historically always a Sinhala island, but now with Tamil as one of the official languages.
I can't understand what more the Tamils want? THE SINHALESE CAN'T JUST VANISH, It is afterall their island.
No Sinhala politician has ever said that Sri Lanka is only for the Sinhala people. Stop your lies. What was said was that Tamils can come and live here, but not to ask parts of the Sinhala island for a Tamil homeland.
