Several UNP supporters had a short while ago driven Sri Lanka Navy Truck bearing Navy number plate 8264 used to transport 80 ballot boxes in to the Kurunegala Police, sources from the Opposition Leader's Office said.
It is learnt that the Navy truck was forcibly driven into the Police compound by UNP supporters after finding ballot boxes inside the truck.
Government members it is also learnt were trying to pressurise the Kurunegala Police to release the truck with the ballot boxes.
Police Spokesperson was not available for comment.
