Former TNA MP says LTTE Killed Civilians

A former TNA parliamentarian has revealed that the LTTE had shot and killed innocent civilians during thee final stages of the war.
Former TNA parliamentarian S. Kanekaratnam has told an electronic media institution that the LTTE had shot and killed over 600 Tamil civilians during the final stages of the war.
Kanekaratnam was among the civilians in the LTTE areas during the final stages of the war.
He has said that the Sri Lankan security forces had not killed any civilian during the period, but it was the LTTE that had killed them.
Kanekaratnam has added that he too was used as a human shield by the LTTE among other people.
The former Tamil legislator has been quoted questioning the panel of experts appointed by the UN Secretary General on Sri Lanka if they could authenticate any of the allegations leveled against the government, as they have been made based on material given pro-LTTE persons.
Kanekaratnam has said that he could speak on the final stages of the war as he witnessed first hand the atrocities committed by the LTTE.

LTTE killed Tamil civilians: surrendered Tiger leaders

Two top LTTE leaders, who gave themselves up before the Sri Lankan Army, have said the Tamil Tigers used the civilians as "hostages" never allowing them to flee the war zone and resorted to "mass killings" if they failed to heed.

Velayutham Dayanithi alias Daya Master, former media coordinator of LTTE, and George, official interpreter of top leader, also appealed to the remaining Tamil Tigers to renounce violence and join the mainstream.

"The LTTE is still using innocent civilians as hostages. They don't let them go out of the areas controlled by them.'Viduthalai Puligal'(LTTE cadres) have killed a number of people in Sudanthirapuram area when they tried to flee from them," Daya Master, who surrendered to the Army last week, told the Sri Lankan state television.

"More than 200 people lost their lives at the hands of LTTE in that one area," he said.
