UNP MP said that ? Mmmm...then you have to really find the truth. Today there are even a few Sinhala "Tigers" who are so envious about the present government's military successes. They know that once these areas are liberated like the Eastern Province, Mahinda Rajapaksha and SLFP would be unbeatable at elections. They showed their capabilities in the East and its not a question of "if", but "when" the North would be liberated too.....this is never good news to the already failed political parties like the UNP.

Cheers.

Do not brand everyone who does not agree with the government as "tigers". This is the biggest mistake one can do. Supporting the fight against the terrorism is one thing, and supporting the current government is another thing. Why cannot we allow different political views?

Tiger supporters call Tamils 'traitors' if they disagree with LTTE. Now this! If you're Sinhalese and disagree with Mahinda, you're a 'tiger.' Great Sri Lankan psyche.
Mangala Samaraweera (SLFP-M) also said that 200 soldiers were killed and 700 wounded in the last couple of days.
What's actually going on there?

Whats going on there is that the LTTE is being annhilated and the innocent Tamil civilians held hostage are being liberated. Deaths are inevitable both on Army's side and LTTE's side. It's better than the UNP regime's rule or Chandrika's rule when Pooneryn, Kilali, Elephant Pass, etc, etc, etc were overrun by the LTTE and Ranil and Chandrika kept blaming the Army's "inability" to counter the LTTE.
I'm from a family of strong UNP supporters, but I don't care where the leader is from when he is doing what others never could do for our country. i'm no racist either and I treat our Tamil brethren as my own. The point is, we have a government that can finish off this terrorist menace and bring about an end to this damned war. See the results in the East.

Country is lost- Mangala

Mangala samaraweera, the leader of the brake a way Mahajana wing of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party said that the Sri Lanka has been identified as one of the countries with the weakest economics.
Speaking at a media briefing “Three years for Chintanaya: Country is lost” samaraweera said that the Mahinda Rajapaksha government is using the war to cover up an economic collapse which is inevitable and is planning for parliamentary elections before they get exposed.

He said that Sri Lanka has been ranked the 28th among the weakest economics of the world by the World Bank and the International Monterey fund.

Causality figures

Samaraweera hit out at the government for hiding causality figures of soldiers.

“On Tuesday 235 injured sold i ers were admitted to the Colombo National Hospital while there were 85 admitted to Kalubowila 90 to Sri Jayawardanapura and 300 more to the Army hospital and 200 more sons of the land were brought to the Jayaratna Funeral Directors.

He said that the government is planning to hold parliamentary elections on December 9th while hoodwinking the voters that this endless war could be won.

“Every hour or so they announce that some junction or the other has been captured as braking news” said Samaraweera.

He said the Mahajana wing is ready to face parliamentary elections as part of a s

Bro, even lots and lots of Tamil boys are getting killed too. Don't think that just Sinhalese soldiers are dying. Bullets and bombs don't select their victims. It happens to both sides equally. Tamil population is just 12% of the entire pouplation and Sinhalese comprise of at least 80%. 1 Tamil death is like 6 Sinhalese dying if you look at it in numbers.
Tamil girls in other parts of the country are going through the same fate. One of my Tamil friends in Batticoloa told me in the mid 1990s that Tamil girls find it so hard to find Tamil boys and they are evetually marrying muslim guys in the East. It happens everywhere in the country.
Ultimately Sri Lanka will also become a majority muslim country like Afghanistan, Pakistan, Indonesia, etc.

It's understably hard to hear about LTTE losses when you are a refugee in a Western country. Your words really express the profound hatred towards the government and the pain that this current war is giving you. Sri Lanka can't tolerate with this LTTE's trickery anymore. Successive governments gave enough opportunities, but they always broke the trust given to them by the governments and returned to war. The only way is to finish off this terror outfit and then talk about autonomy with educated Tamil leaders. Thankfully Mahinda is doing that and very very soon you will see the Lion flag hoisted over Kilinochchi town. Once the rest of the areas are liberated, we should then negotiate with all Tamil parties except the LTTE proxy, the TNA.
Don't get disheartened by this war. I know it's hard when you place so much trust in the LTTE and send them money to fund their activities. The next thing you know is that with proper leadership, Sri Lanka was able to show the LTTE and their supporters that "The TAIL cannot wag the DOG".

Hahahha....dream on man....dream on....soon you if not anyone of your relatives remaining in Sri Lanka will live under the lion flag proudly singing "Sri Lanka Maatha". See what happened to Poonaryn. Same will happen to Killinochchi and other uncleared area. You know why they say "uncleared area" ? Cos they are the jungle patches held by a group of monkeys who claimed to be "invincible" and "undefeatbale" due to stupid previous governments' poor leadership. Now you know what Maihnda has shown you...LOL. It's hard to swallow eh ??? Hik hik
