Not passing judgement here, just a question:

If she swerved into on-coming traffic and hit someone head-on, what happened to that person? That's the victim in this story regardless of who died.

Your buddy is right. That 20 year bench mark seems to be talked about a lot lately on LAPD when most people thought they would do 30 years. Everyone is sick and tired of the politics. Most of us came on to help good people and know the citizens and business owners in the communities we serve. Unfortunately, that doesn't happen in real life.

Your buddy doesn't have to worry about fat cops watching his back. If he lifts weights, runs and shoots a lot he can more than take care of himself because most cops are out of shape and lazy and dont spend time on tactics and shooting.

Ex-cons and gang members only respect muscle, size and if you look good in your uniform. They comment about that all the time if they think you look like a REAL cop. If you don't have that, then they will consider fighting you if it means jail or you getting beat down by them.

That 1 in 10 cops percentage is wrong. Its more like 1 in 15 is a good cop.

For all you reading this: Remember, you deserve a good police department that actually cares about you and your quality of life wherever you live.
When your city or county doesn't care about you, then speak with your feet and moving vans and leave for another city that does care about you.
Nothing wakes up city leaders more when citizens and business owners flip them off and leave houses and businesses empty. Only 8% of Los Angeles City businesses have paid their business license fees this year. Thats 92% of a lot of pissed off businesses in a bad economy.

Buckle your seat belts, stay off the cell phones when driving and dont speed. Those fines are all in the $200.00 range plus insurance increases.

Cities are pressuring cops to write more tickets because of the economy give yourself extra time to get somewhere and dont give into peer pressure from anyone about getting somewhere faster because they wont pay the ticket for you.

By the way, "you do pay our wages." Most tax paying, home owning cops realize that because our county and city taxes pay for the cops that patrol where we live.

Now, watch all the cops write in and complain about what I just said.

I liken it to be at a sporting event, where you don't care who wins. I cheer when either team scores. I hate gangbangers, rapists, drug dealers, etc. just as much as I hate cops. it's just that I'm MORE disappointed in cops who abuse their authority, because they're supposed to be better than that.

If bad cops were in the minority, I'd be in their corner. But they're the majority.

Come on man, do you think most people who live within the patrol division (especially places like rampart, Southwest, Southeast, Central, 77th,and Newton) are going to care about their taxes paying wages. Most don't even own homes, they rent. Why would they care. I know when I worked some of these areas that I mentioned, all people do is whine and complain about the police not caring or doing enough to stop crime. Some days were so busy that our average response time was 15-20 minutes on emergent calls. Residents complain about police brutality because we tune somebody up for challenging us to a fight or were non-compliant, what kinda crap is that? I know that the City bureacracy and red tape sucks. If you are tired of being a cop then try something else, we all need hole diggers. Most people that read the WDN or SGV Tribune have no clue as to what type of crime goes on in the big City. These posts including this one ramble on and on about good cops and bad cops and has nothing to do with the article. RIP Officer Montalvo my thoughts and prayers are with you and your loved ones.

First off, they'd better be a better shot than I am.

Secondly, I laugh when some fool comes back with that response. My taxes pay their salaries the same way yours do.

You hate going to the dentist when your tooth hurts. You hate goign to the mechanic, when your car's acting up. But you do what you gotta do.

But if you know of a way I can opt out of paying their salaries, I will gladly do it and not call them. Until then, quit being a moron.

Hey moron, that rent goes to the landlord, who pays the property taxes with it. They're entitled to every benefit you & I are, as homeowners.

And her alcohol level will never be reported. Either that or it'll be a false figure.

Wow, some interesting stuff here. The Truth wrote about "Greenies". I was wondering how well she was being paid driving an '09 G37 and buying a boat. I guess the driver of the other vehicle wasn't worthy of a catchy headline.

Skimming a little off the top from drug dealers will buy you a lot of toys. Seeing how she was shacking up with another cop, multiply that by two.

It's only 3:30 and you're already drinking. No problem. Can't say I've never done that on Friday, but usually when I'm at the river.

Your post made no sense. I did say homeowner.
