Actually, it should be required. There's nothing worse than realizing you're incompatible with your spouse. There should also be a waiting period - long enough for all the kink to come out.

I don't think there's anything wrong with premarital sex, but I also respect those who choose to wait. I do think that too many people devalue sexual intimacy by hopping in and out of bed with anybody who comes along. I believe that sex is always better when you have some level of affection (not just a physical attraction) to the person you're with.
For myself, I would want to discover whether a partner is sexually compatible with me before getting married. But there are people in this world for whom sexual compatibility is just not that critically important, and I resepct that.
