(Washington) Thurston County judge refuses to marry same-sex couples

Thurston County Superior Court Judge Gary Tabor has notified court personnel that he will not marry same-sex couples. Tabor's judicial assistant, Kristal Rowland, confirmed this to SGN on December 20.

If he can't do the job, he needs to get a different one. It's the law, he has to enforce it, not decide what it is.

Remember 3 Justices were not reelected in Iowa for doing their job when they ruled it was UNCONSTITUTIONAL to deny the right to marry for Same-Sex Couples!!!!

This clearly shows he can not impartially discharge the duties of his office and should be impeached.

The financial institution I work for holds a couple of accounts for ultra-conservative groups.

If I were to refuse to assist these customers with their transactions, based on my disagreement with them and their policies, I would be fired.

As I should be.

No employee of the people should be retained if he/she refuses to serve one group or another based on some personal bias.

If you can't do your job, find another.

This is another one of those "shrug" moments for me, because of the response I foresee. The pro-gay will probably not try to fight this very hard, and I believe that it would have to be fought extensively and viciously to reach any justice in this matter.

I have a hunch this would be a difficult fight -- against a judge -- and I believe it should occur anyway, no matter what.

But, then again, oh well. I doubt that'll happen.

every LGBT person who has ever gone before this judge andeen convicted of even the smallest of crimes, now needs to file a lawsuit against the county for wrongfull prosecution given the judge clearly convicted you for being gay

and if charged with a crime in his court plead that you do not have to obey the law because it violates your morals

See, this is the *type* of thing I'm talking about, indeed. This is the *type* of thing the antigay would do; and I believe a huge outcry -- in action and deed, not just in words -- should occur for every one of these infractions.

There gets a point, I suspect, where people don't have enough hours in the day, though. And I understand that.

But this judge is WAY out of line and a vociferous outcry should be raised, along with actions of the ilk you describe, not necessarily *what* you describe but of that ilk, to fight and fight this nonstop. I really, really cannot goddamn tolerate these people who are creating problems out of *nothing*; I have zero-point-zero tolerance for it, never have, never will.

Anyways, the Judge is employed by ALL the people dear and that includes those who will be marrying someone of their own sex and that means if he performs marriages in his capacity as judge, he cannot discriminate, period.
