What's really dying is peoples' right to live their lives without interference from the least productive, and least informed people on the planet, whether it be the Taliban or local panting and strutting preachers. Their common obsession with other peoples' sex lives is particularily telling.

You really have to love the Southern Baptist. How many of their congregation is sleeping with each other? I believe if you live by the bible that is a sin also. I guess you can pick and choose which one is worse.....

If they lived in the real world, instead of an imaginary one, they might address the issues that actually matter. Religion, a product of the human's unique capacity to imagine, is nature's Etch A Sketch for humans - the most destructive, shortest lived, species to ever occupy the planet, and the only ones to gleefully self-destruct.

How many members that sit on the church pews have multiple marriages?

If you were from Dalton, you would know enough to ask how many members fully support mistresses? It's all a farce - a tax dodge...

Let me wrap it up nice and neat so we can close this thread. Everyone:'Curious' and 'They are all Crazy' want you to know they are remarkably intelligent compared to anyone who attends church. They are hoping that those who attend church will retort so they can come back with something even more witty and hopefully prove once again that their intelligence is superior. The folks who attend church get their feelings hurt, Curious and they are all crazy (if indeed it is actually two seperate people) enjoy the fact that they have hurt feelings. In the end, no one chances their mind on where they stand, and neither side looks more intelligent than the other. YAWN! I look forward to the day when we can stop recycling tired topics. Anybody got anything original?

You're closing the thread? Besides imagining that you're clairvoyant,do you also imagine that you're the moderator for Topix? You're not one of those guys who dresses up like a policeman and pulls people over, are you?

The truth is there are good faithful Christians in church and fake religious people who live not according to the scriptures...even Jesus had one in his group. Point is you must be born again...saved by Christ...understaning He died for the sins of the world and only those who proclaim Him as Lord and live so are truly born again. And the majority of people have religion and not a relationship with Christ...so yes we do need to pray for a lost and dying world, even those with in our churches.

I agree that the world's ability to support life is literally, dying. Our species, that's only been on our little blue planet for around the last 150,000 years of its 4 billion year existence, will be the first living organism, even though we have the highest mental capacity of any life form that existed before us, to opt for self-extinction.

The dinosaurs made it 165 million years, because they didn't possess the mental capacity to achieve mass destruction.

It's difficult to understand how people cannot distinguish between what is imaginary and what is real, and that will prove to be the fatal flaw.

Dream on, dream on, dream on...maybe tomorrow the good lord will take you away...

It's also a control mechanism - keep the peons happy while they toil away in the fields by reminding them that they're really special, and are going to a magical place in the sky, after the work gets done, of course. And, most importantly it is perpetuated because it creates income for people - the Roman Catholic Church has more wealth than 90% of the countries on the planet. How many trillions in resources have been expended on building churches, temples, etc., and how many "holy men" are being supported to perpetuate the myths? Look at the number of individually owned, for profit businesses preying on the flock in God's name - saw one of those up at Prater's Mill a couple of weekends ago...

A person doesn't have to answer for anyone but themselves. Doesn't matter what someone else in the Church or the Faith does, it's what you do.
If a Church member has an abortion it doesn't reflect on the other members of a Church or the Religion. We all make our own choices in life.
How many times a day do we hear Obama people defending the Muslim faith as wonderful and peaceful, all the while a segment of the religion wants to kill every non-muslim on the face of the Earth. Should we condemn all Muslims because of the actions of a few? Same thing is true about guns a very tiny minority of people abuse their gun rights, should we all be punished for the actions of a few?
