Why do you lie when you never met the majority of blacks. You keep on lying, you might believe your own lies.

Polling in Maryland shows a majority of blacks actually SUPPORT marriage equality now.
Thanks in large part to Rev. Sharpton & President Obama.
Hopefully those numbers hold up in Nov.
I lived in Maryland for over 20 years. During that time the anti gay industry tried to manipulate the black community into passing a DOMA law. They failed every time. I'm hopeful that these ministers who are trying to claim exclusive ownership of Dr. King's legacy because of the COLOR OF HIS SKIN will be seen for the frauds they are.

It sickens me whenever a black person says gays are being insulting by using any of Dr. Kings legacy to advance our civil rights.

They don't see the racism in their own words!

"You can't use Dr. King because he's black like me" probably would have gotten them a knock on the head at Dr. King's dinner table by Dr. King himself.

John 21:25

New International Version (NIV)

25 Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written.

well polygamy is very popular in the Bible. So why do most mainline Christian denominations oppose it? Why do all 50 States ban it? There is no Federal ban against it BTW so comparing it to SSM isn't really fair.

Then you are hear just to puff up your own ego.

But I can speak from experience that I HAVE been able to get people here on Topix to re-think their views on many subjects.

And "biblical marriage" IS polygamy. The Jews of the Old Testament and the New Testament WERE polygamous. The Jews didn't stop practicing polygamy until about the 13th century A.D., and some Jews,(and many Muslims) are STILL practicing polygamy.

You ask me a question. I can give you my opinion. I do not remember people that wants polygamy going to court to change the laws protesting for a right to to do it.

This is a message board where people give their opinion on the subject. That is why you are hear giving your opinion. As I said, I do not know anyone who have change their belief by someone one on the internet. People lie all the time on this forum to try to make themselves believable.

Reynolds v U.S.(1878).

The SCOTUS held that religious beliefs are not sufficient reason to overturn polygamy bans.

Nowhere in Christian, Jewish, or Muslim scriptural texts does it say that "GOD disapproves of gay marriage".
Gay marriage has nothing to do with polygamy.
Many Muslims and Jews are polygamous even today. And polygamy was the marriage norm in biblical times.
Rom 1 should be clear enough.

As I said I never heard of them going to court.
I was not back in 1878. Since I been on planet earth there is not been media covering any group of people demanding the laws to change like what we have for SSM.

That old collection of writings that people are always slapping our faces with doesn't have a problem with 4+ women marrying the same man.
You'll notice, though, that this isn't the polyandry (or polygamy) forum.
So, stuff it.
I also noticed you did'nt answer the question. Probably cause you know where this is going.

<quoted text>
It's so easy to say that one's particular GOD disapproves of something that one disapproves of. This provides one with an instant, unassailable argument which is no argument at all. "My GOD says so, therefore it must be and I must follow." That dog don't hunt.
First, can you please let us know which of the 3000-plus GODs that humans have identified is the one to which you refer. Without this clarification, I will refer to all deities with the non-capitalized generic name, "god."
Second, for those who believe that their god disapproves of marriage equality, has your god spoken to you directly about this? If not, it's what we call hearsay. You are not listening to what your god is saying, you are listening to what your god's all-too-human representatives are saying.
I don't personally know any humans who have had an actual conversation with any god, i.e., where both the human and the god speak to each other. Plenty of people say they talk regularly TO god. Not so many say that god responds (most of them are in mental health facilities).
So in reply to your question: "So you don't understand that someone believes that GOD disapproves of gay marriage....so..that person does also?.." Some people BELIEVE that some god or another disapproves of gay marriage, but they have never actually heard from god on this (or any other) subject.
Don't forget the title of this particular forum. We are spaeking of African American Pastors, so "3000-plus gods" holds 0 water. Second, no GOD has not personally spoken to me about this issue. He also has not spoken to me about tons of other issues THAT THE BIBLE IS CLEAR ABOUT. So, because I can read, it's not that hard understand. If you have a problem with the bible, that's another topic
