A group of prominent black clergy today urged Maryland voters to support the state's same-sex marriage law in the November referendum.

It is kind of odd that our community is POLITICALLY to the LEFT (by American standards), but so conservative in cultural matters.

Though I'm a straight man I will vote for a gay or lesbian who supports single payer universal health care before voting for a fellow straight who's against it.
Of course, I'm not culturally conservative. Nor politically conservative. A progressive white or Latin person is preferable to a black reactionary like Herman Cain or Allen West.

I agree. The republicooons keep saying that we will vote for O because of the color of his skin, but Hermain, Steele, and West are blacker and I will vote a white dem over them anytime of day. The republicans are the party of religious and economic intolerance.

Indeed it is. A lot of our folks will go down swinging fighting marriage equality, but that's just how things are sometimes. I'm glad the AA community is liberalizing on this issue.
