Stalker case leads to lawsuit against St. Bruno, principal and archdiocese

Feb 22, 2013 | Posted by: roboblogger | Full story: Whittier Daily News

The stalker of the principal of St. Bruno School made reservations for a wedding at the parish, with an extravagant Hawaiian style lei and a photographer in an attempt to lure the principal into a fake ceremony, according to a lawsuit filed against the school, the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and the school principal.

You had the right idea posting on this story. The other blog is out of control and is obviously being taken over by teenagers that have nothing better to do. I pray that the Father Reardon sees the ugliness around him and realizes it wasn't there a little over a year ago. I pray for St. Bruno's.

As a long time parent , I have a feeling we should kiss. Is that a good feeling or an incorrect feeling?

So St.Bruno's is now losing over 100+ children for the upcoming school year including teachers kids? Does anyone really think they are going to be replaced? Of course not!

It looks like the situation is out of control and the parents have no one to turn too.

Just lost a good teacher out on leave...

When will this end? Why is no one doing anything about this evil woman who is destroying a once proud school? Someone stick her back in a room making candles!

It is really unfortunate that you even have to ask these questions....don't you see "they" are getting what they asked for. "They" told us if we dont like it leave...and so we are. "They" told us that it was a privlidge to be there...but they missed the point. It was a privlidge to have such good families and a great community. You know there was a saying where I grew up..in Pico. " You mess with the bean...and you get the burrito." Well in this case they kicked out a bean...and the whole burrito is leaving. Rest assure "they" will tell themselves that everything is ok...but we all know it is not. It is truly unfortunate. But we take our children...our love..and our money elsewhere. We will be just fine and we will move on. All we can do is reflect upon this experience as a massive failure in leasdership at every level. Perhaps most importantly...see to it that it never happens again.(and yes I am not afraid to use my name)

Well...She's at it again and this time it's teachers. Wonderful teacher's that have been there for 15+ yrs. are not being invited back. They're offering other long time teachers part time positions. There's talk of combination classes, no more science lab, computer lab or writing to read. The Music teacher will be teaching religion the same one telling parents they could not park on a public street or their children couldn't attend St. Bruno's. Why not offer the job to the wonderful teacher who's been there 23 years and has been the religion teacher in the past? The A/C is out in two classes and they can't afford to fix it. Teacher's and staff have had to put up with late payroll on a few occasions. They're keeping teachers with no credentials and degrees that don't apply to education. What happened to the Blue Ribbon School with all credentialed teachers? If parents only new how hard the current teachers are trying to keep the school afloat without affecting the kids. Ask the principal what she was doing during May Crowning or where she was when she forgot about honor roll and had to be reminded to show up. The teacher's care about your kids not the administration and it's going to be sad when the parents find out the hard way. I hope none of the parents have a problem with any of her groupies because you won't have anyone to turn to. Oh wait...get this....The teachers are being told that Las Vegas is hiring teachers if they need a job. Hmmmmm....who is it that lives one city over from Las Vegas, Nevada?

Many parents were quick to point to the door with a smirk on their faces. Several people told me that the school would be better for our kids because of the smaller class sizes. Well let's look at some basic budgeting.

If the remaining families think they we'll be getting the same level of education it might be fiscally impossible. Let's say school enrollment can RECOVER to 220 students next year. That is still $38,500 less each month ($385,000 for the school year). Utility and maintenance costs will still be the same. Think about how much you're paying for your electricity and water every month, it's only going to get higher. So what do you cut? Staff of course.

1. Combine kinder and first grades back into single classrooms.
2. Get rid of every aid, there's fewer kids now.
3. Get rid of the nurse (but keep the new vice principal and psychoeducational services.)
4. Fire all experienced or talented teachers. They cost too much, just replace them with less experienced or less qualified personnel.
5. Don't purchase/renew licensed teaching material.
6. Don't run the AC on the hot days and let the kids wear jackets in the rooms during the cooler months.

Now we're on our way to getting some value for our tuition. I'm on pins and needles to see what the tuition will be in 2014-2015.

It's just terrible that so many good teachers who are the foundation of St Bruno School were fired ! It's surreal to me the amount of families that are not returning . In my 16 years as a Catholic School Parent I have never seen St Bruno hang banners advertising enrollment . It used to be if you didn't get your application in by the end of Febuary you had no chance . St Bruno had an outstanding reputation , and now it's a mere ghost of its former self . An absolute tragedy! Parents I think we should get together and do something special to honor these outstanding teachers. They deserve to know that they are loved , appreciated , and will not be forgotten .

And another another one bites the dust....We just lost another good teacher for next year so lets see...Jr. High is down the 6th grade teacher AND the 7th grade teacher and from what I understand Ms. Running is no lock to return. WHAT THE F IS GOING ON HERE!!!!

WE NEED TO TAKE OUR SCHOOL BACK....ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

My child came home in tears a few weeks back when it was learned that we were losing Mr. Salas and did again yesterday.

THERE MUST BE SOMETHING WE CAN DO!

Unfortunately ....there isn't much that can be done at this point. The course is set and no one of authority is going to do anything. Additionally this is no longer "our" school. "They" made that very clear to us all. It will take YEARS for this school to turn itself around.... and we simply can not gamble with our children's education like this.

The hyprocracy at this place knows no limits....such as the rule that staff can not associate with parents on their own time....however the adminstration can. Especially at a St. Patricks party. Yes the photos went on the web for everyone to see...the admisntration and certain staff throwing some back with the chosen few...but never mind the directive given by them...but does not apply to them.

This is the mindset of those running this operation. We simply do not matter to them...we never did. The only time they reach out to us is when they need us to raise money to fund thier agenda. An agenda which we as a customer base were never informed about. This is so far out of control there is no way to mend the community that was Saint Brunos Catholic School...

Hello Anthony,

Would you please post a link for those pictures? The teachers and parents will eventually need supporting evidence to have justice served.

So we are losing the first grade teacher as well. Rumor has it they are taking the failed TK teacher and putting her in as a first grade teacher of some form. The former nun is forcing out those who did not go along with her new policies but cannot replace them because next years enrollment is going to be too low. Father may not care now but when he sees his congregation and the $$$ dry up he will care real quick.

Lets see if carnival is a failure like the fish fry was.

Whoa! A recorded message addressing rumors? When has that happened. Sounds to me like they are afraid they may lose another 20-30 students for next year.

I can see it now, shades of Little House on the Prairie, where there are students of different ages in one classroom with the Nun defiantly conducting her class.....

Oh! I think you are making this up! The Monaghan St. Patrick's Day Party that a "chosen" few on the faculty (well not sure if all are on the faculty...sure seems like it though) chose to attend and enjoy? Yes, you must be making this up because this type of fraternizing with parents from school is frowned upon and very unprofessional. It would set a bad example and jeopardize your integrity as well as possibly make you appear biased. Plus, if they tell us it's true then it must be true, correct? I would only believe it if I saw it or a picture of it...
Many have stated that the school will be better off when the "bad" parents leave because the admin is going to "clean up shop" and get rid of these "unimpressive" teachers. Let's be honest-what kind of teachers will we get with almost half of the kids gone? The facts are the facts. At this point, tuition and the number of children that are re-enrolling are what matter. Unfortunately, we will hear different numbers, depending on the source and the truth is usually somewhere in the middle.
I'm not trying to convince people to stay or leave-just stop and remember that we are supposed to be Catholic-not stupid. So, be good to others and hope that others will be good to you, no matter what school you attend. Unfortunately, whatever any of us say or hear, "they" will spin it. Which isn't very Catholic is it?

WOW!!!

Breaking the very rules that she has instituted and used against the teachers she has harrassed and pushed out of the school.

So what is the disciplinary action against her or the other faculty?

Time for Father to hold her accountable, just like she would do to her staff.
