All 5 GOP senators support the bill, so the only NO votes should be the 5 Dems already on record as opposed.

This could be a 33-5 slam dunk vote!

The religious freak is quoting the bible on the Senate floor ad nauseum.

Someone needs to tell him he's not in church.

At least they already voted down an amendment to send it to the voters.

According to GLAAD:
Governor Chafee has already pledged to sign the bill into law after it is reconciled with the House version.

This truly is an historic moment.

In 2008, on the 5th anniversary of GLAD's Goodridge decision that made Massachusetts the first state where same-sex couples could marry, we pledged to see marriage equality in all six New England States by 2012.

Some called it too ambitious - but we knew the people of New England could make it happen.

And here we are, just past 2012, on the eve of the 10th anniversary of Goodridge - and all six New England states are about to be in the win column for equality.

New England is poised to be a marriage equality zone, a beacon of justice and fairness for the rest of our country. And the day will come when that equality zone encompasses all fifty states and the federal government.

Marriage means so much. And soon, Rhode Island's same-sex couples and their families will see their commitment recognized and celebrated in their home state.

While GLAD didn't quite make 2012, I think we've exceeded expectations.(I think most of us considered all of New England by 2012 too ambitious, anyway.) By the tenth anniversary of Goodridge, however, we are likely to count the entire Northeast except Pennsylvania as marriage equality states. We will likely also have Illinois and California, plus we already have Iowa. That will make 14 states plus DC by year end. That's over 1/4.

Just amazing in only ten years.

The Southern states will be dragged into the 21rst century the same way they were dragged into the 20'th century. I just hope it doesn't take another 75 years.
