There are 55 comments on the EDGE story from Jan 28, 2014, titled Kirk Cameron Slams Grammys, Plugs New Movie. In it, EDGE reports that:

Child actor turned Christian activist and full-time homophobe Kirk Cameron added his voice to the legions of religious right pundits incensed at Sunday night's Grammy Award performance of "Same Love" by Macklemore, where singer/actress and now wedding officiant Queen Latifah married 34 gay and straight couples.

Maybe if we pass laws saying inbred, fundie, homophobic closet cases can't marry or serve openly or be protected from arbitrary firing and run around in packs beating them up on the streets then you'll have your little "point" about the kkk.(A group most white homophobes approve of.)
I think you're a decade behind on gays getting beat up on the streets. Our backward society exalts homosexuals. If anyone is hateful or physical against gays they are sinning also. There's a reason only man and woman can procreate, that is how God designed His world, like it or not. I live in the south, very pro-life, Christian , and Republican and I have never seen news on gay bullying, assaults etc in a100 mile radius of my home ( and trust me the news would be all over that). Don't associate a few hateful rednecks to all Bible believing Christians

Believe me we are NOT 10 years past the "gay bashing" years. I think your post is very touching and affirming and I am glad to know that things like that don't happen in your area.

But gay bashings ARE on the rise in other areas. Your local news may just not be reporting on them (as is their choice)

Many people are unaware that for over 10 years now it's been a crime for any member of clergy to even bless a SSC in anything that resembles a marriage. Yet how often this talked about?

I'm shocked that since 1997, no one seems to be bothered that a State says they will fine and jail ministers, rabbis and priests who practice their faith by showing compassion to gays and lesbians.

"When women got the vote, they did not redefine voting. When African-Americans got the right to sit at a lunch counter alongside white people, they did not redefine eating out. They were simply invited to the table. That is all we want to do; we have no desire to change marriage. We want to be entitled to not only the same privileges but the same responsibilities as straight people."

Also a lot of gay bashing or hate crimes are not investigated or prosecuted as such in more conservative areas and many time the victims do not report such or report them AS such. There are a lot more people who are discriminated against and fired and denied housing and public accommodations because of their sexual orientation and victims of bashings or hate crimes or even false arrests, lies, trumped up charges, and entrapment by police for cruising for sex when they were indeed NOT cruising for sex but a lot of gays don't fight the charges for they are afraid of the publicity, more jail time, or don't think the court will believe them over the cops so they opt to do a good plea deal and pay fines.

The [email protected] was just out for a late night stroll and the homophobe cop entrapped him right?
You really didn't address anything I posted. All you are doing is gay bashing. I don't know why cops are wasting their time on such things anyway. And if someone agrees to have sex with someone I don't see how it is illegal if they were to leave the public area and go to a motel or their own place. So if a straight guys talk to a hot woman on the beach and they agree to meet elsewhere for sex is that illegal? I would think it is only illegal or should only be illegal if the sex takes place in public or they expose themselves. If Joe asks Mike to leave the park and go back to a motel and have sex with him I don't see how that should be against the law because no transaction took place for it is not prostitution and they would be going to a private place to have sex. Is cruising itself illegal? I hear in some places cruising itself is not a crime, but is only a crime if sex takes place in public or they expose themselves. So if a homosexual did agree to have sex with a cop doesn't mean he is wanting to have sex with him in public. The sex act and exposure of genitilia in public should have to be committed before they can arrest them.

The way you worded your sentence it's the cop cruising for sex.

And it's called solicitation.

I agree. A friend of mine back in Baltimore was murdered. Shot in the back of his head. The police called it a robbery gone bad. Yet none of his cash or jewelry was taken.

Since nothing was taken how can they say it was a robbery?

A survey of police blotters across the nation show a great many such cases of gay victims used to cook the homicide stats of a city.

For years I have firmly believed that most crimes against gays and lesbians get reported as "attempted robbery gone wrong".

And here's something no one wants to talk about. When an older gay man is killed every news story mentions that the police suspect it may be someone he picked up at a sleazy bar; but if a straight older woman is killed.......a straight man.....?????

The stereotyping of the "gay lifestyle" has to end. The marriage battle and DADTDP still divides this nation and is still just in the beginning of playing out.

IMO the push for "religious exemptions" is the biggest danger we face right now.
