I think his time would be better spent working on the Budget, better schools, and ending hunger in America.

After all isn't one of the "FAV" responses to gays and lesbians, "Our country has more important issues to address"?

I'd also remind him that when it comes to "Natural Law" it appears a rat is smarter than he is. The rats leave a ship as it starts to sink.

Something like this would never be passed by Congress, and it's doubtful, that even get approved by either the House or Senate Judiciary committees.

This is just more window-dressing by sore-losers.

It's a sad commentary on Americans that SO MANY are opposed to EQUAL PROTECTION OF THE LAWS as GUARANTEED to EVERY citizen by the U.S. Constitution. So much so, tat some people, as seen here, are DEMANDING that the U.S. Constitution be changed to STRIP OUT equal protection of the laws.

I believe it has passed several REPUBLICAN controlled committees in the House when it was introduced last year, and the previous years.

Fresh aim?

What a clueless reporter!

The Republicans have been introducing bills like this nearly every year since DOMA passed in the nineties!

Already an official plank of the GOP, this will galvanize all those who were frightened, or can be induced to be frightened, by the recent SCotUS Decisions.

This will influence races at all levels.

I agree Snyper. But hopefully since it IS an official plank of the GOP, it will ALSO frighten many see the G.O.P. as the party of bigotry and get them to the polls in record numbers.

At this point in our movement, complacency and apathy are as deadly as silence.

So you think DOMA was created to prevent homosexuals from marrying? Nope, it was created in order to define what marriage encompasses. How do you feel about bygamy, how about incest, and pedophilia? The door has been kicked open to allow ALL forms of "marriage", even ones that might upset your apple cart. That's not bigotry, that's hindsight used as foresight.

Gay marriage, putting women in their place, and preventing minorities from voting.
Yeah, the GOP sure has their ducks in a row.

No, ALL forms of 'marriage' will NOT go on. Get real. Polygamy is already on the books as illegal, can't marry your children...already related to them, can't marry your pet b/c they can not sign a marriage license. Any other non sense remarks?

BS.

The definition was unnecessary.

And 50 years ago, homosexual marriage was right there with those. You belch about equality, but in the minds of those "other" individuals, they aren't being treated equally. Do you see what I am saying?

It won't get the majority it needs in the House.....only because the House doesn't actually have a 2/3 majority control.......but better yet, it will NEVER get the votes out of the Senate.

I know it might try and drive several political races, but it won't happen.....if Bush couldn't get it done......it won't happen now.....but it is something we need to pay a bit of attention to and it means that the GOP is NOT concerned about the ECONOMY OR JOBS.......maybe it's time for then to go if they CAN'T do their jobs!!!

DOMA was created for one reason and one reason only.....TO NOT HAVE TO RECOGNIZE THE POTENTIAL LEGAL MARRIAGES OF GAY AND LESBIAN COUPLES ONLY!!!

Bigamy is ILLEGAL and one can be prosecuted for it is a criminal act.......it is defined as being married to two different people who DON'T know that the other spouse exists........I believe you might have meant POLYGAMY.......entirely a different marriage where a man has several wives and they all live together!!!

Incest is also illegal and so is pedophilia!!!

Now, if these folks want to fight to remove the criminal element and then want to fight for their legal right to marry......that's on them, but I seriously doubt this will happen especially regarding Pedophiles or incest marriages!!!

But it won't on the next go-round. The Republicans have more important things to worry about. If they don't pass it out of the Judiciary Committee, radical-religious nuts will be disappointed but certainly won't desert the Republicns party over this.

They lost this battle and they know it.

The dems are in more control the the GOP, and yet job creation for middle class wages is stagnant, interesting......They appear to be more focused on tax increases and "green technologies" going bankrupt... Yep, laser-like focus on the economy.LOL!!!! Oh yeah, and targeting those that don't pursue their agenda. mmmmmmm

To have had DOMA overturned had one specific outcome, acquiring financial benefits. MONEY!!!! Makes the world go round, don't it? What is considered "illegal" now can easily become legal in a few short years...look at pot. Look at AK47 and SKS's. Look at gay marriage. Look at the helmet law. mmmm And what is legal now can just as easily become illegal. All you need is the right recipe of politicians and voila! Whoever thought that we would be forced to wear seatbelts???
