Why Republicans Are Saying 'I Do' To Gay Marriage

No, the next GOPasaur presidential nominee can't support marriage equality.

They would lose 12+ million evangelical voters without gaining many voters in return.

Ironically their ONLY hope is for the SCOTUS to overturn all marriage bans and remove it as a political issue. That way they can say they fought the good fight but those "activist judges" are to blame.

It would be in the GOP's best interest, then, to secretly move heaven and earth to make sure that the Supreme Court makes a sweeping judgement affirming marriage equality across the whole USA. Publicly they can continue to whine of course and keep their precious homophobe lobby happy.

Exactly!

Unfortunatley I don't think the GOPasaurs are smart enough to think that far ahead.

So we'll likely have to continue working state-by-state until we flip the SCOTUS to a solid liberal majority.
