I remember going to see it when I was young and lived nearby. It is a very beautiful place. Congratulations to them!

Amazing. The big flap a year ago about gays in the military and somehow the military seems to not be bothered in the least. Yet the conservatives piss and moan about DOMA. If it does go our way on Monday, in a year the rest of the country will be as nonplussed as they are at Westpoint, or any of the other military bases that are completely accepting now. I read that the Marines allowed an on base male male wedding. The MARINES.

It reminds me of one of those huge domino exhibits when someone will set up thousands of dominoes in lines and patterns and different branches and they push the first one and they are off and running, all falling within 2 minutes.

For some reason I thought the chapel at West Point was actually controlled by the catholic church?

Ooops, should have googled that. Turns out there are 7 chapels at West Point, including the Cadet Chapel where this wedding will take place, and the Catholic one which of course bans any same-sex weddings.

My bad......

It's a beautiful Chapel and they should feel proud and honored to be able to have their wedding ceremony there:-)

Congratulations to the Couple and this Historic moment!!!

Now, if SCOTUS would get off their azzes and do something constructive......that would be great and Historic as well!!!

The nanosecond the antigay try to stop this, the pro-gay can sue on the following utterly fair-minded, almost spine-chillingly delicious grounds:

Freedom. Of. Religion.

The anti-gays in Congress have been trying to stop this with amendments to the Defense Authorization Act, but it was stripped out of the bill.

Funny and sad and vomit-inducing how they have to be fought *every hour of every day*. Well, they got their asses kicked up into their throats in this last election ... and ya know what?

They haven't learned.

They learned nothing.

The same hardcore republicans are clinging to the same hardcore beliefs; I've had conversation after conversation. They learned zero. They learned Z E R O from this.

I say slam them again in 2016 and then turn and ask them if their heads are goddamn thick enough or whether they're finally learning something. Young republicans are breaking from the party completely; they find it actually and literally sickening to behold. I have a hunch these older republicans are going to learn a very, very tough and very unhappy lesson in the next few years.

I fully expected the current GOPasaurs to continue on the exact same path. I think they really believe it wasn't their policies which were rejected, but rather just how they communicated their policies. Most actually think Romney lost because he wasn't conservative ENOUGH.

I agree they will be in for a rude awakening in 2014 & 2016 when they go hard hard right wing and lose both the House and the Presidency once again.

Only then will the rational moderate republicans take back their party.

I look forward to the coming bloodbath!

You summarized perfectly here the republican reaction: They have taken the *most wrong* lessons they possibly could have from what happened.

*shrug* They'll learn.

I personally know several Republicans who, though fiscally conservative, were scared off voting at all by the addition of Ryan.

Most of those who have shared anything with me felt that they would have voted for Romney as the believed him to be before campaigning for President, but his "seriously conservative" swing scared them off.

And they still think it's a good idea. Directly on the heels of that election,*serious-as-hell* republicans began discussing how to MARKET and DISSEMINATE their message -- not change it a whit; in fact, on two occasions where I suggested changing it, the reaction was the equivalent of, "I find this deeply offensive."

They don't get it and they are going to have to live with that. Too damn bad for them *shrug*. They are literally trying to devise ways, now, to present *exactly* the same message in a way that will garner them "more votes."

They're scarily clueless. There's no *good* in their message. There's no *justice* in it. It's not an *AMERICAN* message: It excludes, frightens, divides, excoriates, harangues, harasses and hates. And they think that's "good." They're getting what they deserve, period.

Yes, but those Republicans aren't the ones voting in the primaries. Look for them to go even FARTHER to the right in 2016, and then act suprised when they get creamed in the general election once again.

If you think the Republicans are so extreme, then please explain why they retained their majoriy in the House of Repreentatives, and maintained their majority in gubernatorial seats. They also hold a majority of state legislative seats. You make it sound like they are a tiny minority with no power at all.

About the only thing they didn't win was POTUS\VEEP and a majority in the U.S. Senate. WOW. Two things out of the 1000+ contests in the U.S. this past election cycle.
