Good luck with that, yikes! Doug Parker the worst CEO in airline history (after Lorenzo) gets control of the world's largest airline? He hasn't even finished his last merger of 7 years ago. The AA employees will regret cutting of their nose to spite their face with this guy at the helm. God bless 'em. They are gonna need it.

DFWFRED: Well said.

What is your prediction as to when the AMR layoff notices begin?

Do you think the labor agreements and pay increases will become effective before the Pink Slips are distributed?

No more bellyaching from here on out. The labor groups got their wish. Oh by the way, is Bush forgiven for the mess that AMR was in.

I wonder what Crandall has to say about all of this? My guess, he would have it happen the other way around. Ce La Vie, good bye American Airlines it was a good ride until the crybabies whined and threw a tantrum. Stick the big pacifier in their mouths and they'll be quiet for a while.
Any bets as to when the crying resumes?

Actually, when the joint operating certificate gets issued if the current AA/TWU contract is honored or the TWU/US MOU for for fleet service is honored some stations Horton closed will reopen. Contractors will be kicked out and the union back in place.. That said AA had been in a downward spiral for years an ineffective BOD letting a poor executive team devistate morale and surrender to the competition..Now we have the savior Doug Parker. Friends since college of who? Worked where till 1986? His title is what? People will whine it is thier nature. Parker will anger people. Will he be an agressive leader or one who runs away from the JetBlues of the world... we will see. I will bck him until he proves to be untrustworthy and/ greedy.

Or..........it will be fanstatic like our merger w/ NWA. Record profits, nolayoffs, profit sharing, pay raises, on time up big time, baggage complaints way down, DOT ratings some of the best ever.........it could happen if everyone commits.

TOAD,

the key words in your comments.........."it could happen if everyone commits".

We'll just have to wait and see if the union members agree to work 8 hour shifts or keep their four on and four off schedules.

The largest permanent full time work force in the AL is the FA group. For over 7 yrs, HP and USAir, both AFA, have still not agreed on sen., pay, benefits. AA FA's are a APFA, an in house union. The AA's FA's out number the combined FA groups of HP/USAir. I know AFA won't go w/out a huge fight. It will be a heck of a storm.
