Oh, BULLoney!
If you would take a bit of your precious time to learn something about the origins and mythology of the common origins of the ancient Teachings, you would know something more than just Christian thought about itself.
This has absolutely nothing at all to do with either atheism or "new age."
Bill Maher? Weapons?
Paranoid Fundamentalist Catholicism at it worst.

Such charity in thee,“Rev” Ken. A great preacher once noted that “you don’t have to be a dummy or a numbskull to be a fool.” Now we know.
Those Liberal Churches in which you are entombed have strayed so far from orthodoxy that their members feel that their church left them. Universally, the Liberal Churches are losing members in droves. Bang up job your’re doing there,“Rev.” Ken! No wonder they turn to Catholicism or evangelical alternatives.
It is those "mainline churches" that have deviated from the spirit of the 16th Century Reformers. Sometimes, one cannot distinguish Liberal Churcher views from the Democratic National Committee’s handbook, save for the “Christian” veneer with which they anoint their leftist agenda. What’s next? Jesus was just a barefoot Marxist?(See Jeremiah Wright!)
But, above all, dearest “Reverend”, the crux of it all: Is your Christian community adhering to the commands of the Gospel proclaimed by Jesus and properly interpreted by the Scriptures? No more questions to ask.

More BULLoney, Wombat.

Your first quote above confirms exactly the attitude of your last sentence above.

You are a great example unto yourself. Indeed. And Amen, et cetera, ad nauseum.

LMFAO!!!!....(The F stands for Friar.)

So, what did you do in your previous post above shith-ead?

A quote from the beginning of Wombat's previous post:

- A great preacher once noted that “you don’t have to be a dummy or a numbskull to be a fool.” Now we know.-

Wombat, by this from you in your previous post above, is the reader to assume that you regard your own quote of Oscar Wilde, in the near post above, as GOOD advice ??

Is the reader to infer by your previous quote of the "great preacher" that you regard me as a fool, and maybe even a dummy and numbskull, too, even though it isn't necessary to be one or the other or both ??

And then you go right forward to say that you don't need to ask any more questions, which is to say that YOU are the dummy, the numbskull and the fool because you refuse to educate yourself.

Brother, camp out a few minutes with yourself and read your own posts and take your own advice. It seems that you are actually a fair bit smarter than you are allowing yourself to be.

Do you routinely grace your listeners from a pulpit with such gems, "Rev" Ken? I would suggest you dump your shortcomings on a Christian psychologist (who might be able to help you) rather than upon the many delicate ears on this thread. But why listen to a "shith-ead" like me?

Well,.... obviously, I am not about to moderate my shortcomings on your behalf. Why should I?

If you want to act like a shith-ead, sound like a shith-ead, write and quote and recite like a shith-ead, so that your posts reek like the mental extrusions of a shith-ead, why then,......

Maybe you are a "shith-ead" like you say you are.

In that case, I am reasonably justified in agreeing with your assessment of yourself, Wombat Shith-ead.

You have earned it. You can keep it.

Yes I wonder about ken's language. The filthy names he calls people----just a little over the top for a man of the Church.
Did you know ken feels trapped like a gerbil on a wheel, running forever without gaining an inch? Poor fella is just lost here.

What!?!

You don't like the moniker "Wombat Shith-ead?"

It seemed to fit so well! Plus, it is fully PG-13. Nothing filthy about it at all, except for the fact that it fits you and upsets your imagination.

And as for the gerbil analogy, I came up with that one for you as a desciption of your antics on the thread. Try using your filthy imagination to come up with one for me, instead of getting all up in a twist, copycatting and running around yelling pot/kettle.

Now, back to The Big Bang Theory for some real entertainment.

That was SHADOW!

Well,.... how about "Dung SHADOW?"

Doesn't do much for the smell of Dung SHADOW's rotten posts. But, it sure is an apt and vital visual.

It is precisely this "talking snake" argument that the new atheists use to debunk theism. Bill Maher uses this weapon ad nauseum. Chances are Maher has never read St. Augustine.
You mean if I read a book about Augustine I'll believe in talking serpents? Uh...I highly doubt that.

No, no au contraire Sherlayne:

"If they [non-believers] find a Christian mistaken in a field which they themselves know well and hear him maintaining his foolish opinions about our books, how are they going to believe those books and matters concerning the resurrection of the dead, the hope of eternal life, and the Kingdom of Heaven, when they think their pages are full of falsehoods on facts which they themselves have learned from experience in the light of reason?”---from The Literal Meaning of Genesis by St. Augustine

Womba, sorry, but I don't put much stock in Augustine. Never did. He was a drunk and a womanizer. He blamed all sexual affairs on women. Interestingly, he left his mistress only when his libido left HIM.
