The next case has already been file, in my state of Michigan no less. It challenges our voter approved constitutional ban. The judge put the case on hold pending the outcome of the Prop8 & DOMA cases.
at least in your state it's been done In our state, not a chance! Way too many Republicans in the House.

True enough. I've been at this for over 40 years, so I have experienced disappointment and victory. Small victories to be sure, but victories none-the-less. And if all that comes of this case is victory for California, that is enough. Another day will dawn, and another case will be filed. And on it goes. And if DOMA falls, I am sure Federal benefits will flow. After that the states will feel pressure from individuals, groups, and businesses to change their status on Marriage Equality. They cannot resist forever.
Downfall of DOMA should surely give states that have civil unions the impetus to enact marriage equality. We will then have concrete reasons that civil unions are inadequate.

Of course, we could send the opponents off on a fool's mission to recognize civil unions federally. I would enjoy watching that play out.

Two more years and my hubby will retire, and then we can move someplace that is at least in the 21st century.

You must be confused. Our marriage ban is in our constitution. Our House & Senate & Gov are controlled by Republicans. The only way we're going to overturn our ban is through the courts or possibly another voter referendum, but that's been put off until 2016.

Agreed 100%.

That's what Rhode Island, Illinois, Delaware, Hawaii, Minnesota, & New Jersey are all waiting on.

Once DOMA is gone & presuming we get California back, that will be the push needed to get those "wavering" votes in those states.

That should take us to 15 states by year's end.
