Given the ongoing debate about same-sex marriage, it is time I looked at the two Testaments to remind myself why belief is so hard for me to embrace.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/01/06/anal...

A Dec. 22, 2011 piece by Hugo Schwyzer, a professor of gender studies and history at Pasadena City College, implied that anal sex (which he calls "the most selfless of common sexual acts" given the amount of pain the "bottoming" partner endures in its practice) could be on the rise due to its frequent appearance in both heterosexual porn and mainstream media as well as an increased pressure from heterosexual male partners. He also cited several sources who seemed to cast doubt on how pleasurable the act was for women.

Though there's no telling what he'd say about the implications of the practice between heterosexual partners, Paul Angelo, a Miami-based "gay matchmaker," reportedly called for a 60-day moratorium on anal sex among gay couples last month, saying the act diminishes self-confidence and self-esteem while causing relationship confusion among partners. "The worse part about this destruction of self-esteem is that it's on the subconscious level. A person will not feel anything during the act," he writes. "And the pleasure derived from the act will override the logic necessary to correct the behavior. In addition, there is a delay between the act of anal intercourse and the reduction of self-esteem of the person."

1. My statement is hardly an insult.
2. Even if it were, it does not validate his assertion.
3. How often is there unsolicited sacrilegious comments on here?
Get real rev.

1. Yes. Your statement, "Maybe you are the problem," was intended to insult. Clearly, simply, absolutely implying that any problem Vic Torre is having with understanding religious doctrine and dogma is most likely his own.

You have the right and opportunity to join with Vic Torre in his realization that the objectivity of religion is inherently flawed. Such comprehension is limited by its very nature of an imperfect understanding - no matter who you are.

But, no. You put the onus on him. I am not saying you are either right or wrong to have done so. It is simply what you did.

2. Yes. From his perspective, it validates his assertion. To be honest, one has to ask about the purpose of Vic Torre's post in the first place. What did he expect in response? If he did not expect disagreement with his views, why did he post his views. But, that is not an insult on his part. It is more of a challenge.

3. Unsolicited sacreligious comments? That is a matter of personal opinion.

As for getting real, that is the exercise of my faith in Christ Jesus. Am I perfect in that exercise? Not so far as I can tell. But, I am working on it. Maybe, someday, the Holy Spirit will afford me a momentary glimpse of that perfection.

Until then, I am just a human being like you are.

Thank very much! I said before that I respect anyones faith. I never attacked a persons belief. Those who know me can verify. It is when their belief is used to justify their insults to me. Then I do likewise. "DO UNTO OTHERS AS YOU WOULD HAVE THEM DO UNTO YOU. Even though that phrase is religious, it's a good policy to live by and I do just that. You certainly earned my respect.

That is unfortunate. If he lived next to me,there would be daily difficulties. I never bother a neighbor. I have been intruded upon. Took it to court. I won. Should that family return-immediate arrest. They left before the court date. Neighbors (3 of them) willing to back my case. They are long time residents.

You are trolling a Bible thread, knowing full well that the Bible repeatedly condemns all homosexual behavior. What's that all about?

You quote in all caps means quite the opposite of what you say. It means if you don't want the sort of hate you spew, don't do it to others!

And you're not trolling the same thread? I know what the bible says. Then there are other religions that hate your bible. I find the bible wrong on many issues. What hate do I post? Other than responding to a hateful one to me? I explained that before. Not all my qoutes are in caps. The proof is there for all to see. What's up with that statement?

I was thinking about good ol' Dave and that bear of a man Goliath, but you make a very good point there as well!
