When Gulnare Freewill Baptist Church in Pike County, Ky., voted last year to bar interracial couples as members, the condemnation was swift and universal: The head of the county ministers association said, "This is not the spirit of the community in any way, shape or form."
<quoted text> I might or might not. It would depend on context. What I WOULD do (and am now) is point out how colloquial turns of phrase demonstrate how religion can permeate a cultural unconscious, motivating individuals and structuring their presuppositions. In your case, it's just subtle evidence. of this cultural/historical influence. Has it made YOU a better person in any way and, through you, improved the culture?
first let me get my waders on ... BTW, how is your mom?
<quoted text> okay, you brought up my parents... for most that includes a mom...
But not all, of course. Some fathers are raising kids without Moms, and many Moms are raising kids without fathers. Some kids have two Moms or Two Dads. Some children are raised by relatives who are NOT Mom or Dad.
And some kids are raised by strangers, and would love to have ANY parent to call their own.
But none of that is relevant with regards to legal marriage.
To deny same sex couples legal marriage, you need to show where such marriage harms that couple, any kids they might have, and society at large.
Gay folks represent egalitarian principles... they show how equality should work. In those respects, gay folks are better parents for children, instead of man beating on woman, and teaching children about hierarchy.
Wats the justification for having female and male parents ? It's a stupid institution, and there's too much child abuse and molestation and divorce to say that's a great set-up. It's not. It's horrible, and traumatizing. So what's the justification for that ? B/c their genitalia is different ? How does that help, or hurt, how a person can raise a child ?

All you do is question the norm, without providing any argument disproving the norm.
Yall wanna hate, so u get the hate back. If marriage was a sacred institution, then it should be available to any consenting adult partnership out there. If it's not, then keep on hating the gays. I've met plenty of women who hate the institution of marriage, and children for that matter, and in fact, I feel foolish bein' a man who wants a wife and children around those women. They make marriage and having children sound stupid. 50% of men/women marriage end in divorce, the love dies whenever marriage begins, so perhaps the institution itself isn't that sacred. The world needs more love, and if the queers want to devote themselves to each other till the end of their life, then what's the problem w/ that ?
