There's plenty of land, food and water for everyone. I oppose population control policies.
No, there is not. Do some research. The world is literally on the tipping point of over population right now. The future wars will not be over gold or oil or anything that mundane, they will be over water and lack of it.

I'm sure in your lush garden you think that there is plenty of water as your immigrant gardener clips and weeds your lawns, and when you attend the Sunday brunch and eat till your tummy hurts, you don't realize that many struggle to get enough to eat,or clean water to drink,as you lift your fine flute for a refill of champagne, think about it.

Sure, we could pack a billion people in America, but do you really want our country to be like India or China or Mexico?

You have just described Miami if Marco Rubio had his way.
Conservatives and religious freaks weep bitter tears over every wasted drop of semen, and perish forbid a woman think about stopping a pregnancy, but once the kid is out and breathing on his or her own, the conservatives lose all interest and develop actual hostility to the poor kid and try to cut all social support for that same unwanted child, resulting in an impossible chance of making anything out of his life and that same poor kid becomes a life long malcontent.

But, SOMEONE has to wash the wealthy folks' cars and do their laundry and scrub their toilets. Why not home grow a lower class?

Yep, they're already talking about trying to build a pipeline from the Great Lakes to the desert southwest, but those of us who live up here will never let that happen. I'll resort to ecoterrorism before they pump even a gallon of water from Lake Huron! If they want plentiful water, then can live up here in the cold with the rest of us.

You can see what's irrigated and farmed and what's not from 30,000 feet (on a clear day). Most of flyover America is empty. People farm on mountains, haven't you ever seen a tiered field or a slope covered with vineyards or coffee plants?

So, we could triple US population and still have a population density less than China or India.

Corruption and communism destroys economies; note where famines occur and what type of government they have. The world is underpopulated, far fewer people are alive now than the forecasts made just 25 years ago.

Why would you want to triple our population?

Most of the Sahara desert is empty too, as is Antarctica, and the Himalayas.......

Btw, what happens when those glacial aquifers which provide all that water for irrigation are depleted? How do you plan on feeding a billion people then?

Soylent green? Yummmmm.......

I like how liberals go on about racism, yet this thread has turned into bashing Rubio because he is Cuban. It goes to show how hypocritical liberals are and why it is important that we vote Dems out in 2014 and 2016.

You're just a moron.

World population has increased by 2 BILLION people in 25 years, from 5 billion to over 7 billion now. That's a 40% increase in world population.

We're depleating our natural resources at an unsustainable rate. If this continues unchecked, it's only a matter of time before our planet becomes uninhabitable- for humans anyways.

If anything, we need a good plague to cut the human population by 50%; preferably the oldest 50%.

Good! Let's KEEP it that way, please.

As for them being too worried earlier, their message must have sunken in and RESPONSIBLE adults are choosing NOT to have full on litters of 8-12 kids like you so desperately crave to happen.

Hey! Speaking for the less than youthful demographic,uh,come on Sheeple! A little mercy! Why not kill the two birds with one stone...let's have Armageddon NOW, send all those delightful Christians to be with Jesus, and leave the world to the rest of us. A win win for everyone. THEY are off with God and we get much more room and don't have to put up with their poking their nose into bedrooms and sniffing other people's crotches.

NOTHING wrong with Cubans...I happen to LIKE Cuban men..umm..they are usually highly sensual and almost always highly sexually charged and handsome. No, we are not so happy with tight ass douche bags, as Rubio is turning out to be. He would be a douche no matter what race he was.

Stop trying to make a point in such a sloppy obvious way, hater.

Unfortunately viruses don't work that way. They usually kill of the oldest & the youngest, along with a slew of those in between. I think it's only a matter of time before the human population is cut in half if not more. The overcrowded city centers will be hit the hardest, not just from the disease, but the panic afterward. I'd stronly recommend anyone who wants a chance to survive to find a nice small community at least 2 days walk from the nearest large city.

I'm IN a small town, about 55 miles from the biggest nearby city.

Well big large cities are where most liberals live and assume their power, nature does have a strange way of correcting mistakes.

"Corruption and communism destroys economies"

As does fascism.

"The world is underpopulated"

That is a lie , looking at resources the world is over populated.

In much of the Middle east and some parts of Africa water is a resource which you fight for.

Hispanics and Asians are the pacmen of the enviroment.

"The recent rapid increase in human population over the past three centuries has raised concerns that the planet may not be able to sustain present or larger numbers of inhabitants. The InterAcademy Panel Statement on Population Growth has stated that many environmental problems, such as rising levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide, global warming, and pollution, are aggravated by the population expansion.[11] Other problems associated with overpopulation include the increased demand for resources such as fresh water and food, starvation and malnutrition, consumption of natural resources faster than the rate of regeneration (such as fossil fuels), and a deterioration in living conditions. However, some believe that waste and over-consumption, especially by wealthy nations, is putting more strain on the environment than overpopulation.
