By the time any immigration bill gets passed by Congress the SCOTUS will already have overturned DOMA, so this issue will be moot.

We can only and certainly hope so. Meanwhile the Repuglicans continue acting like they didn't win the last election. Evidently the still believe they can win by catering to the religious right and the tea party fools.

Have at it fellas but realize you're well on your way to losing in 2016 as well. Your future doesn't look very bright.

Yep, Rubio & Paul's speeches were the exact same arguments put forward by Romney. Obviously they haven't learned anything from their trouncing in November.

That's a good thing!

Sen. Rubio is out of touch. Support for equality for GLBT's is growing in the Latin Community. Rubio and Ryan. Two peas in a pod. Desperately trying to hold onto ideas that have been demonstrated to be disasters.

Reminds me of Cheney going on TV yesterday and claiming the President is off track.(WMD's Mr. VP?)

Here's a though, Marco! You don't make it a gay-oppression issue and WE don't make it a gay-rights issue. Don't exclude GLBT families and we're good.

Sound like a plan??

That's because RU-B-O is a Cuban; most hispanics don't like cubans because of the preferential treatment they get in illegal immigration.

Gee, I wonder why RU-B-O didn't talk about that?

So true. I know a lot of Hispanics here, from work and neighbors, etc. They are either Mexican or from Central America. They HATE Cubans. They find them insufferable and hoity toity elitists. When I see Rubio, that is what comes to mind immediately.

My husband is a Mexican citizen who is in the US legally. He turned off Rubio's "response" as soon as he saw who it was because, as he said "The Cubans all get preferential treatment from the government. If one of them commits a crime while their status is still 'undocumented', they won't be deported because the US government hates Cuba's leaders."

Democrats have been stereotyping people for decades for their welfare program. It is ruining our society inside and out.

The fed must go
The tax code must go
The war mongers must go
Let Ishrael defend Ishrael
Expel and isolate the cancer from within
They are puppeting our govt. They heavily influence our domestic, foreign, and monetary policy.
How are we doin?

Yup. Since moving here to S. FL I've seen what you're talking about. The "wet foot dry foot" policy is often bent when Cubans are involved but not Haitians or any other group. And many Cubans look down on any other Cuban who came here during or after the Mariel boat lift.

Up until the Mariel boat lift most Cubans here were descended from the wealthy who fled Cuba after Castro went communist. These people made their family fortunes through ties with organized crime (gambling) and the graft and corruption that plagued Cuba back in the 40's and 50's. In other words they are the families the Cuban people started a revolution over.

I know a few Cubans here in FL that won't even admit they are Cuban because of the history of Cuban-American graft and corruption here in Florida.

OK. It ain't so. It's simply outrage over the hypocrisy of Rubio. Most people here understand he's the new Republican fair haired boy simply because Ryan blew it and Marco is Cuban. It's window dressing by the Republican party, nothing more.

Don't be surprised when in a few years they trot out an openly gay conservative to respond to the SOTUA.

Cubans DO get preferential treatment. We don't.

They also lobby for preferential treatment. We don't.
