Will Gay Marriage Pit Church Against Church?

Apr 27, 2009 | Posted by: SongBookz | Full story: news.yahoo.com

The trouble they see is not just an America where general support for gay marriage will have driven a wedge between churches and the world, but between churches themselves.

Acts 17:24-29

24 “The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands.

25 <<<<<And He is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything. Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else.>>>>>

26 From one man He made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands.

27 ~~~~~God did this so that they would seek Him and perhaps reach out for Him and find Him, though He is not far from any one of us.~~~~~

28 ‘For in Him we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, <‘We are his offspring.’>

29 ***“Therefore since we are God’s offspring, we should not think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stone—an image made by human design and skill.***

God is the giver of life, breath, and all things.

David, John, and Peter confirm what Moses said in Gen. 1.
They do not take the accounts as legend or symbols.
They do not picture God as starting the basic process and then just letting it run.
Rather, they show God's personal involvement in each step and each thing created.
To reject this is to deny the whole Scriptures.
And they all lived and died many centuries before scientific exploration gave us the actual mechanism by which life reached its current state.

To reject the creation myths in Genesis is to accept reality as an adult should be capable of doing...

Resurrection....ABSOLUTELY!!!
Isaiah 26:19
19 But your dead will live, Lord;
their bodies will rise—
let those who dwell in the dust
wake up and shout for joy—
your dew is like the dew of the morning;
the earth will give birth to her dead.
And this is why the earliest xians were willing to believe in a resurrected Jesus; they thought that he was to be the first of many, NOT that there was something unique about him. Look too at Ezekiel and the dry bones coming together. Such things were to be a sign that the Messiah had come. Instead, all they got was Jesus, a wandering Jewish preacher who may have THOUGHT that he was the Messiah, or maybe his disciples thought that he was the one, but ultimately, he FAILED to fulfill the prophecies that would have shown him to be the real Messiah.

It's 2013. I can't believe we're still having this conversation. Evolution is a FACT.
I heard on the news this morning that there are actually a measurable percentage of people that believe that there are shape shifting lizard men living among us, working to take over the government...

Remember, that the creotards will do ANYTHING to avoid learning science, and they also work hard to prevent anyone else from learning about science as well.

Evolution weakens faith in God, undermines the arguments for God's existence, and is a fundamental tenet of all unbelievers.
All evidence for a believe in a God, any God, is purely subjective and requires a leap of faith, beyond available facts and logic. Which God a person believes in is based PURELY on chance and happenstance, the accidents of location of one's birth or the culture in which one grows up.

All evidence for accepting the reality of evolution is objective and testable and is totally independent of culture or religious upbringing.

If facts and their supporting evidence are enough to dislodge your god, it is time to rethink your religion...

I think you're AFRAID to think for yourself.
Fear is almost always the driving force behind fundamentalist viewpoints. With religions like xianity, that fear may be based on the cognitive dissonance that is experienced when one tries to reconcile one's beliefs with the facts of what the Bible actually says, and then to reconcile that with the reality that the Bible does not always conform to the real world, especially in its description of things that the Bronze Age shepherds could not possibly have known about. Jesus may have been mystified about where wind comes from, but anyone that has a halfway decent science class back in grade school understands...

Good luck with that Jeff.
If you believe in the theory of evolution and believe that man evolved from an ape or a gorilla does that mean that in some way apes and men are brothers?

The theory or evolution would say,“yes, in some ways men and apes are brothers.”

Things of the animal kingdom will reproduce after their own kind.

An ape will produce another ape.

A man and woman will produce another human and there is NEVER the possibility of producing something other than a human.

It did. It still does. Rampantly and without judgement.
The Father "prunes" the vine of life.
It's a good mechanism which fills every available niche for life forms, in every possible variety and variation ...
including gay people.
Hmm, and that neatly dovetails in with evolution as "natural" selection and survival of the fittest.

Of course, as a friend of mine once pointed out, what is more impressive: a God that has to go "Poof" and do a magic trick for each and every species; or a God that goes "Poof" and magically creates a factory that then manufactures all of the necessary components for each step of the way to culminate in humans at the proper time without the need for further Divine intervention?

Gay marriage and homosexuality itself (yes, that's what it's called – "gay" is a recent euphemism trying to make it more socially palatable) is either a sin or it's not, and that is up to God. All the human interpretation in the world won't change that! And if it is a sin, then it's between God and to the center. It is not up to the rest of us to enforce "our morals" – as determined by the way WE interpret the Bible – but it's up to each and every individual to determine for themselves whether what they are doing is wrong BY GOD'S STANDARDS NOT THEIRS and then act accordingly. If they're making a bad bed, they're going to actively in it for all eternity! That's why I don't concern myself, nor do I care about the whole gay issue – I don't go that way, therefore it doesn't affect me and I don't care.

Our physical bodies, when lowered into the ground, are but empty shells no longer capable of sustaining our spirits.

Jesus once described the hypocrisy of the Pharisees as "whitewashed tombs which on the outside appear beautiful, but inside are full of dead men's bones and all uncleanliness."

Silly, ignorant child, the ancestor that man and apes evolved from is no longer around: BOTH humans and apes have continued evolving from the time (several million years ago) that we last shared a common ancestor.

Try and think about it: are you EXACTLY like either your father or mother? Or are you a little of both, with some characteristics that are not quite either of them? Unless you are an EXACT replica of one of them, you have just demonstrated evolution in action.

Wrong again.

Evolution does NOT say how life began. Abiogenesis is a completely separate science. The ONLY thing that evolution says is that over time, organisms with better adaptations will be selected over those with lesser adaptations. The accumulation of these adaptations gives rise to what we call evolution.

How many times a day must I write that you are wrong again?

There are no prophecies calling for the crucifixion of the Messiah, nor are there any prophecies that say that he will come, FAIL, and get to come back again for a second chance to get things right.

The Messiah can be recognized only because he has fulfilled all of the prophecies - he is recognized BECAUSE the prophecies have been fulfilled.

Is there peace in the world? Heck, let's look small, and say that the prophecy was ONLY for Israel and not the entire world. Is there everlasting peace in Israel? If the answer is no, then the prophecies have not been fulfilled. End of story, end of the possibility that Jesus was the Messiah.
