Went there with a reservation and waited 2 hours past. No conscistency in the food. Some days great others so so. The wait for your meal is unbearable. What is with the manager who sits around when the staff is helter skelter. Owner ignores customer when they complain. Overall embarrased that I took friends there and we got wrong food, and cold coffee!

I love this place. It brought me back to my 4 years of living in Germany and the wonderfull food there. This is as close as it get's.
The pretzel rolls are out of sight.

You sound disgusting and mad for no reason and nothing has anything to do with the restaurant

Hello well we really had very very high expectations, thinking we finally found a real good German place..Boy were we wrong!!! you can put lipstick on a pig but its still a pig.
except for the really nice beer and barmaid we spoke with the rest of the night was not good.We had a very young server "Alex" totally did not get it,no follow thru. Asked for some additional bread, was told they ran out but tables coming in after us received bread I hope to hell not recycled from other tables. Our openers were at best fair. pancakes were oily and my crabcakes had to go back to be reheated and still tasted manufactured. no water was ever brought to the table or offered.waited a little longet then expected for the main dishes and those were not at a reasonable serving temp either, when asked if they served authentic german potatoe balls we were told yes only to receive bland dumplings not good my food was also very bland cold and overall not good had 1 desert between 2 and left 90% of it the coffee was also very very bad. And to top it off they had some very very off key musicians there who were clearly stuck on 80s soft rock no a good way to have a german good time we wont be back we had reall hoped for more

We go every month, never had a bad time or meal. Pretzel rolls are a must, wiener schnitzel is the best veal I have ever had. As far as desserts go, this is owned by the Black Forest Bakery 3 doors down. I have read some of the reviews on this page, and you all should get out more. You go to a small neighborhood eatery, what are you looking for? Some one to kiss your -ss? I've been in the business, this place is one of the best if not the best in a 15 mile radius of restaurants, including the Bellmore and Hauppauge areas. I do admit the live music sucks sometime, but laugh at it and enjoy your meal! I think when a place is totally packed every weekend, this should tell you something. So you didn't get a glass of water, so what.

I love this restaurant. I've been there 3 times now and it's been consistently good. The pretzel rolls are heavenly and you're getting top notch baked goods/desserts because the owner's the same as the Black Forest Bakery just 2 doors down. The atomosphere is fun - nice to see a good place to go in our town.

I spent a lot of time visiting a family member that lived in Bellmore and it isn't much different than Lindenhurst in appearance/income status. The only difference is that we've got lots of fishermen here (reason for the boats). I love this town - it's a great place to live and raise children.

We were attending a Fair at the time we found The Village Lantern. It has become our favorite eatery. We've eaten from 2 people to 12 people and the service is always outstanding !! Everyone is right about the pretzel rolls ~ FABULOUS. Since I can never decide what to eat, I get the Barvarian, which includes sauerbraten, jagerschnitzel (your choice of schnitzel), bratwurst (your choice of wurst), red cabbage, sauerkraut and a choice of dumplings, spaetzle or potato pancakes. I love the decor and will continue to come !! Since I love everything about it I would find it hard to say what I like about it the most. TRY IT !!

As far as the lipstick pig thing!
Don't bring your family into it.
Go back and try again. Any good restaurant reviewer goes back 2 or three times before writing a review.

yes, you are correct I was born and raised in Lindy, in the 70,s, most kids had boats and clamed for extra cash and cruised to the OBI for some fun. I was raised by a fisherman family and all my summer days where spent on that bay. It is very sad Patterson is making me buy a permit to fish. I feel its my heritage and my right of passage! How sad!

Yes you should be allowed to rape the sea of its bounty and then get drunk and drive home.

The other night we went to The Village Lantern for Easter dinner. Everything from the service to the food was excellent. The food was absolutely delicious!!! I have worked in restaurants for over 10 years, so I have great judgement! The stuffed porkchop was amazing!! This is a must try restaurant. Wonderful entertainment on Saturday nights too!! Yummyyyyyy!! Enjoy!!!!!!!!
