"poor medical outcomes", AMEN to that! Spending more money without correcting the culture of the VA will do nothing to help the veterans. Why should veterans have to live 40+ miles from VA or not be able to obtain a timely appointement before tehy can seek care elsewhere? What about situations where your Doctor is incompetant? In the private sector, if I don't like a particular Doctor or healthcare provider, I just go someplace else. Something veterans cannot do. THEY DON'T HAVE A CHOICE. Why not?

I am a wartime Korean veteran and not eligable for VA benifits, however any veteran that served and was injured and disabled while in the sevice should be given a healthcare card and be able to see any Doctor, specialist, in any state, any hospital, free of charge until he dies, billions will be spent on hospitals, clinics and veterans will still be miles from them, I would rather be seeing a specialist of my choice, anywhere in any state than assigned one at the VA that is not my choice
