Yes, I agree. But, it is the BOGEYMAN factor that concerns me....When does it stop? We should be focussing on sameness and acknowledge differences within that sameness. We need a uniting "Factor" what ever the hell that is.........Our problems are remotely similar to Scotland of 12th/ 13th century, that is:<quoted text>No, its just the same old stuff as before. We get aggro about one group for a while, then move onto others. We've had anti Italian riots, anti-Portuguese riots, bombings of Chinese restaurants, attacks on synagogues, shootings of Slavs and much more - and that is in Perth alone. We'll soon forget about Muslims and move onto the next bogeyman.
1> No unity within a stratified society (Australia is: Haves and Haves not... etc...)
2> Part of the dis unity was Scotland received many peoples of a differing cultures from Europe and surrounds: Normans, Danes, Irish...Look at Scottish sir names from the time e.g.: "Junor" is actually scottish, nay it is from the Norse men... Sounds familiar ?
3> Further disunity was the English wanting to control Scotland Politically, financially etc..
4> Yeah, change can be good and welcoming or forced. We have become compromised by bean counters and the like.
Yeah, whatever...too big for my head!!
