A society dictates its own morals. If you don't like the ones the vast majority choose to live by,move to where the morality is more to your liking. California for instance.

Civil rights can not be decided vote or minorities would always be defeated. The Supreme Court will decide that Marriage is a right to ALL citizens. They have no other choice.

The United States was based on religious freedom by very religious men. It has since slowly been deteriorating to suit the immoral baseness of the 'natural man' with little resistance.

If all gays had there own island they would be gone within less than a hundred years.

Serously? You do know heterosexuals are the ones who breed children, right? The sliding scale of sexuality will never die off. We'll always have that mix of gender attraction. What was the latest statistic, one in ten? One hundred years will do nothing to alter that stat. Unless mankind becomes extinct.

the United States was based on people that wanted to be free to make thier own decisions, choices, speak freely, and live life without being forced to live the way a ruler, king, felt was right. sadly people are still trying to "dictate" right from wrong and completely forget that this is the land of the free. Religious people have made it impossible for people that arent the way thier imaginary god said they should be to find or have the happiness they deserve. after time people will start to except what they don't understand, the same way they figured out that the world was round and not flat.... if all men had thier own island, or all women, they to would be gone in a hundred years. If all bigots had thier own island they wouldn't last one year before they found fault in each other and killed everyone. live and let live sister.Lets not stand in the way of somebody else's happiness!

If Obama want to support gay marriage then he should make it so that on a federal level there is no discrimination to the sexual orientation of the married couple. What the individual states do they will do.

There is no way any President can do that. He can't repeal DOMA. He can't rule on the Prop 8 case or on any of the other four or five marriage cases working up to the US Supreme Court. He can't pass legislation. Recognizing marriages or not is not something that can be done by Executive Order.

That's what makes the whole thing comical, he can't do anything before the election and won't do anything about it after, this is damage control after Biden opened his mouth. So yeah he picks up some of the gay vote but he just lost the entire bible belt.

Don't make it sound like you're not ignorant.

You said he should do this and that to secure marriage equality.

I pointed out he cannot.

What he can do is say he favors marriage equality.

He did so at great political risk. It means a lot to a lot of people, including stupid, nasty fundies who don't like the announcement symbolically or otherwise.

and exactly whose morals are you talking about? christian morals? hardly very moralistic there when most christians don't even follow thier so called morality. like how they scream about the sanctity of marriage. you may just want to look at the numbers and see how many of get divorced, cheat on thier wives etc. don't talk to me of morality because i know many people who don't practise any religion that are more moral than any of those hypocrites...
