If I ever see this Judge's name on a ballot I'm voting the complete opposite. Even if the other candidate is Donald Duck, what the...!

And no, I do not believe this is the prison systems fault, especially $4.4 million dollars worth of fault with $80K for the kids who weren't even at the game??? If the prison denied the game there would've been a complaints about rights and exercise. I did not read where they were "forced" to play. Therefore, it was a choice.

I do not rejoice in his life altering injury, but $4.4 million is completely outrageous.

Prison lawsuits are as looney as the Judge that rules in their favor. These predators are in prison for a reason. This dumb ars is serving time for domestic violence. I would say Karma is a monster and will bite you in the butt big time, but it looks like it back fired on we the taxpayers.

Thanks Judge Clark Weaver for showing us what justice is all about. You will be remembered in our nightmares!

I've read many comments with much intrest. I really feel that if you don't know the entire story you shouldn't judge. Does anyone know that domestic violence doesn't just mean that someone is getting beat up. I know this family and although I don't feel that everthing that happened was right I also feel that football in prision is a stupid idea. By the way he did work and have a fairly good job.

He was put in prison for arguing with his girlfriend. He was a hard worker & a good father. He never beat anybody. He did not belong in prison. He plea bargained because he was scared. Domestic violence laws hurt more people than they protect. He chose to play a friendly game of flag-football to pass the time. He did not know it would turn violent. It was a minimum security detention camp, no murderers or rapists were there. I know because I am his brother. It is easy for most people to comment on things that they don't fully understand. No amount of money will replace what the State of Ohio took from Eric and his family.

UH...HUH! Since when do you take a plea to something you did not do? He was scared! That's what they all say. He's your brother, so it's obvious why you think he is not guilty. Keep thinking that way. Poor guy! What did the state take from your brother? Sounds to me like 4.4 million compensates "our" loss. There is nothing I like better than to see the perps come out on top of their games and let we the taxpayers work to pay for their losses. Makes alot of sense to me...cough/cough! By the way, I have never heard of an "argument" putting anyone in prison. Let me know where I can look up that law. Quite interesting! Bye now!

i personally know the woman who put him in jail. miss o'day. she is currently with my father who is helping her raise two of his three children. what is sad is that the kids call my father their dad. he has been more of a father figure to them than eric has been their entire lives. he would call michael and chloe piece of shit beat their mother in front of them. the man is a deadbeat. he couldn't even get his son a lightning mcqueen bike that he had promised him for his birthday when they visited him in the hospital. the children are better off. he doesn't call the kids at all. he is able to see them whenever he wants but he wants nothing more to do with the children. he doesn't pay child support because the state of ohio deems that $300 dollars for two kids a month from social security is enough. what happens to the kids he doesn't take care of? nothing has been mentioned to my family about anything containing this lawsuit.

Just in case you cannot remember, Mr. Hauser, your dirt-bag "father" is a convicted drug dealer. He and miss oday abuse drugs every day in the home where the children live. The children are physically & verbally abused on a daily basis by this dirt-bag. When these two losers get their hands on the money that was awarded to the kids, they are gonna buy an $80,000 crack-rock!

very nice. I sincerely hope that none of this is true. And if it is, you have a responsibility to call the authorities. If you don't and something happens to those children, you are as much at fault.

My father doesn't do any of that and if you look at public record those felonies in which you are referring are over 23 years old. When my father was a kid. Can't tell me your childhood was perfect. The children are not abused they finally have a father figure in their life...they call their real dad Eric and call my father dad. That says alot about the character your brother or whoever he is to you. the man cares nothing about the kids and all he is to them anymore is just their sperm donar. You can say all you want about my family but the fact remains he wants nothing to do with his kids...he is just another deadbeat dad.

Are you serious?? What is this world coming to? The man was in prison for domestic violence, knew they weren't supposed to be playing tackle football and blames someone else?? I'm appalled that this was even considered. makes me sick!

I would like to have had the news ask him if he thought it was ironic that he is now incapable of inflicting violence on others? Is he now a believer of "what goes around comes around?"

I agree with most of the points in this discussion. I am a taxpaying citizen and $4 million for this blows my mind. Keep in mind however to get a domestic violence charge all you have to do is get in an argument with someone and if the cops are called they can and will press charges. When this happens the male almost allways gets hauled off no matter who is at fault. I went to high school with this person and from what I understand (from the womens lips) she was not injured they just got in an argument. People are arrested all the time for simply getting in arguments. Next time you and your spouse get in a yelling match stop and ask yourself "can the neighbors hear us" No amount of money is worth not being able to not only walk but to not even feed yourself for the rest of your life. And yes, you play football in prison, somebody is gonna get f'd up.
