How many wars were due to gay rights?

How many wars were due to religious conflict?

It seems like the vatican would be embarrassed to present itself as the moral authority on any social or even criminal issue. I knew a young teenager who had serious emotional and mental health issues who went to a priest for help. He ended up seducing her, impregnating her, abandoning her and his daughter and leaving her to deal with it alone. The daughter lived til she was 2-1/2. In a foster care home the story was she put a hose in her mouth and turned on the water and died. In the meantime (after the daughter was taken away), the priest came back and impregnated her again. She gave birth to a beautiful baby boy this time. He was also taken away and ended up dying at 10 months of SIDS in foster care. The reason for this story is that the priest who is supposed to be 'christlike' was just a piece of shit. He kept his career and her life was ruined forever. He was protected by the vatican as were all the priests who preyed on trusting children. The church's equivilent of the good old boys network. The christ gig is pretty lucrative and they are trying to protect their continued control of masses. If all their edicts crumbled, where would they be? On the other end of the spectrum are the believers. They don't blame the church for the thousands of atrocities against children that the church covered up. Hard to believe these people have any logic skills or good reasoning skills. They must fear for their soul if they are willing to swallow this crap. The few stories of christ always portray him as loving, generous, humble, accepting, non-judgmental. How does any church you know stack up to that???

His excuses for ignoring the Golden Rule all amount to nothing more than unsupportable fear mongering. Spreading and promoting hate in the name of Jesus is a threat to peace and justice, not treating all persons equally, as required by the constitution.

He's confused. Threat to "PEACE" or a threat to the "PIECE" he and his little priests are missing out on? Because they can't marry. They can screw little boys but they can't handle a real gay man.

It strikes me as bitterly ironic that the Pope can talk about "Peace" and worry about "Humanity" while he is living in the lavish Vatican City, the repository for so many riches that were captured during bloody and violent wars in which so many needlessly lost their lives.

I have faith in a Higher Power and in spirituality and humankind. The Pope and his Church are anathema to me.

Popes have used the bible as a weapon to punish people based on religious beliefs throughout history, just as it continues to be misused today in Uganda, Kenya, and way too many other places including here at home.

While many people associate the Inquisition with Spain and Portugal, it was actually instituted by Pope Innocent III (1198-1216) in Rome. A later pope, Pope Gregory IX established the Inquisition, in 1233, to combat the heresy of the Abilgenses, a religious sect in France. By 1255, the Inquisition was in full gear throughout Central and Western Europe.( www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/History/... ...)

A 1578 handbook for inquisitors spelled out the purpose of inquisitorial penalties: "for punishment does not take place primarily and per se for the correction and good of the person punished, but for the public good in order that others may become terrified and weaned away from the evils they would commit." Terrorism used to enforce religious beliefs on the entire population was the intent. And while softened a bit in the western world, that pattern survives into present time, especially in parts of Africa.

But the inquisitions were not limited to Spain and its territories throughout the world. Historians distinguish four different manifestations of the Inquisition:
the Medieval Inquisition (11841230s)
the Spanish Inquisition (14781834)
the Portuguese Inquisition (15361821)
the Roman Inquisition (1542 c. 1860 )(wiki)

Before becoming the Pope, he held the office of the Grand Inquisitor,(though renamed) a logical position for a Nazi youth to grow into.
