what ever happened to the "offense principle" of the freedom of speech rights..this obviously offends alot of people so why dont we just stop with the confederate flag thing. The south lost the war..get over it. We have a new flag with 50 stars and 13 alternating red and white stripes. So how about we put those flags up instead of trying to divide our country even more. Remember that the red on our flag represents blood shed for our country,,the blood of african,mexican,asian,and white americans have all been spilled to keep this country together. So lets stop with this confederate flag, it should be concidered unpatriotic due to the fact that it represents the seperation of North and South United States. We are not sepperated anymore lets unite and put up the AMERICAN FLAG..We all live in UNITED, not the CONFEDERATE states of America.

When I first heard about this flag, the first thing I thought was, "That's gonna start some trouble!" While it's their freedom to put that up, it's also the freedom of others to disagree with it. I, for one, am totally against anything that keeps this country from being united.

The African flag that waves above the Dr. King monument down town is also a problem to me, but again, freedom of speech. The problem with people hanging on to the freedom of speech banner is it does not exempt you from the consequences that come with it.

I just don't understand why someone, many years later, still wants to hang on to the flag of the loser of the Civil War. Sure, it's your heritage, but to me, it doesn't mean anything today. It's like wearing a throwback jersey to a sports team.

Overall, I just think the country would be better off if we let our pasts go and concentrate on being united today.

This is the most divided this country has been since the civil war.

Obama initiated class warfare and the war on women as political tactics. And Soros organizations are funding riots across the country. So it's not surprising that we are seeing record numbers of rebel flags fly.

Not everyone is sleeping through this downturn of America and many are letting their voices be heard through a symbol of history that warns us what can happen when political leaders like Obama push an agenda of hatred towards our fellow Americans.

If you don't want to see so many rebel flags then tell Obama to STOP the HATE campaign of pushing CLASS WARFARE.

Some may choose to give up freedom in exchange for government handouts and they are welcome to fly a socialist or fascist flag, but take it somewhere else.

At this point in history it is necessary to make people aware of history. So the rebel flag will fly.

Some want American Companies and individuals to be able to invest in America and create jobs here. But what is stopping the investment in America?

If it were just as easy to operate a manufacturing company in the United States as it is in China and India this country would prosper again.

Right now it could go either way. Americans are just not used to having competition.

@ 400 to 200 / the flag is flying, like it or not, and it was not a war of southern treason, it was a war of nothern agression, what do you think Honest Abe had in mind, for all the slaves, do you a little digging in history, also, it was deemed that all the states had the right to seceed from the union, but the north, could not let that happen because then they would have no one to support their non working, non producing end of the country....it all boiled down to money, period !!!

And another thing, before I get off my soapbox, but from what i understand, these poeple own this piece of property, and they asked for no city, county or state funds, they raised and paid for everything themselves..... after looking into the group that is doing this, I think you shold look again people at all the good things they do in your community, all the money they donate to fundraisers, and fundraisers they have for others. As stated above, there is a flag and a monument on Martin Luther King drive, that offend people, and I am sure it offends this group of people, but you do not see them whining about it, and i would bet the city paid for all of that including the upkeep.. so just let these people alone, go about your business, and if you do not like the flag, look the other way when you go by it ....
