Noddy, sorry... no offense, but you don't know much about the music business, in those days.:-) Organized crime was everywhere in the US music biz. More than half the venues in the US were run by the mob. Road crews, bus drivers, etc... all union teamsters. Guess who ran the teamsters union. If you were making decent money as a musician and you didn't pay your union dues, you could get black balled or even hurt. Tyler is quite eccentric and dramatic, but not outright lying. No, there were not guys with machine guns, striped suits and cigars walking around. But, yes... the mob was very much in the scene. I worked hundreds of concerts, including Aerosmith. Tyler is not a bad guy. He's OK as rock stars go. There were many performers a lot crazier and more conceited than Tyler, as long as he wasn't high as hell. Tyler is a dreamer and a romantic. He's also outspoken and does not like seeing people abused. Actually a people person. But, he's not completely nuts. Just a little. Stardom does that to MOST big performers. They give up their old life to be stars. That's why MANY fake their deaths, to buy time to find themselves again, before they die.
