What a shame, a few complaints is all it takes. Thousands of people may want the live nativity, but a few vocal people get their way.

I'm sorry, I thought we lived in the Bible Belt? What about our culture? Are we going to give it up so easily? If people do not agree with Christianity,(let them move) or they could at least respect our decision and tolerate our silly representations of the birth of Christ (for one season). At least we don't have to stop what we're doing, turn to the east and pray for 30 minutes @ three times a day.

Well the other cultures can burn in h***. We have bcome a nation of compromise catering to the unbeliever. Our nation was founded by fathers that staked our country based on the Holy Bible. Now we trash that to accomodate others.

What ever happened to majority rule, we've lost it, this political correctness is out of hand and sickening, it's plastered allover the news, papers, etc. Folks we better wake up and quit allowing ourselves to be brainwashed!!!!!!!

I suppose the next thing is that we will have to carry our Bibles in a "Plain Brown Wrapper" on the way to Church so as to not to offend anyone!!!
Where is this world going when we let a few determine how we worship, etc. We don't force them to believe other than they do. We don't protest because they don't believe in God. It's there choice in they want to end up in "HELL".

The article states that it "understands diverse cultures are part of the city". If that's the case, why not continue to have the live nativity plus other "diverse cultures" representations? Then no one "culture" would be excluded and they could broaden the minds of many.

I, for one, would find it educational to see a wide representation of cultures.

The Christians of Chattanooga need to take a stand on this issue. Christmas is about the birth of our saviour, Jesus Christ and if our Chattanooga Downtown Partnership will not have a nativity scene for fear of upsetting a few people of other faiths, then they need to know how many Christians they are upsetting! America is by a large majority a Christian nation. So, how about worrying about offending the majority instead of the minority?

If you don't like it, don't look at it. You morons that complain about everything need to go somewhere else, and bother them. Majority rules, not your pitiful minority voices. Get a life!!!!!!!

Ok, I'm not a christian, but that doesnt mean I'm going to fight a nativity. Easy thing to do, DON'T GO SEE IT! It's almost like the gay marriage thing, and here's why I say that:

Why should it bother you when the majority of others would rather have it? Not being FORCED to go to the nativity. Not being FORCED to marry someone of the same gender. Leave people alone!!! This country was built on christian beliefs, but has "freedom of religion". believe what you want, and don't stop others from doing things with their beliefs just cause they don't match yours.

Great Idea!!!! But, the bible belt people would have a fit for the satanists, buddhists, muslim, or wiccan "events".. but then again, they aren't being FORCED to attend

Great idea. However, the denomination wanting this would not abide by other culture's representations. They only want their beliefs on display.

Well, the organization sponsoring the festival receives city funding. So even if the nativity scene wouldn't be performed on city-owned property (article is unclear as to the location of the performance), the case law is probably such that the CDP's hands are tied.

Now if the group putting on the scene were to do this on private property at a time that just so happened to coincide with the festival (i.e., if the CDP were to refrain from advertising about the scene), they may have been able to get away with it.
