There was a lot more happening then just the band playing. Metals given for valor, purple heart and congressional metal of honor recipient. A lot of information from dav organizations. Worth the time. Wish the paper would have printed this information even as honorable mention...!

No other paper carried any information about this and the VA website answered my questions about this coverage with 'we do not advertise local events' or some such nonsense. I even sent information to The Patch, Belmont Shore, and their answers was 'they did not know' but once again, no mention of these festivities.
I am a proud veteran who is disabled and cannot get up to North Long Beach and not sure that I would go up to that area.
The festivities at the hospital included an exhibit of old cars, motorcyclists from the Marines (and all over) who were celebrating the same holiday with their anniversary and proud soldiers in uniforms I did not recognize but they were not afraid to answer any questions I had. There was the nursing staff able to answer any questions about medical treatment and service staff ready to answer any questions about benefits and more but NO ONE FELT THIS WAS NEWSWORTHY ENOUGH to print.
Obviously selective and sensational journalism reins on Veteran's Day!
