In a dingy Parisian back street, diners at a one-of-a-kind bistro tuck lustily into breaded horse brain, pan fried heart of horse and broiled cheek, along with prime rump steaks the chef cuts from the bone himself. Full Story

The issue is not if horsemeat is tastier than beeef, but that products labelled as beef shouldn't contain horsemeat at all.

A product should contain what it says on the label; there is no interpretation of that principle possible.

Two French companies (Comigel and Spanghero) implicated in the fraudulent introduction of horsemeat in beef-based products could have criminal implications.

For many people in Britain, the idea that they may have unwittingly eaten horsemeat is rather repugnant; we are a nation of horse lovers!
For the majority of Brits, eating horses is like eating a pet, a dog. Horses are noble animals for us.

Well, consumption isn't sky high here either. When anemia was more of an issue, it was often prescribed as a remedy but as far as I remember it was never anything people would eat willingly.(And I'd far rather pop an iron pill than eat horsemeat.) The article tries to wring some interest on the side BUT as you say the real issue here is fraud (an estimated 300K !) not horsemeat itself.

Rio (Ronan) does NOT speak for Britain.
All this "We British" from him is nonnense, as he is 100% anti-British. He only has Moslem friends, most of them illegal immigrants like Somalis and some Poles and Albanians who work for him and live in his "rented rooms".
