Is the shape of the iPhone 4 trademarked/patented/etc?

I'm planning on creating a product that matches the shape of the iPhone 4 (a rectangle the same size with rounded corners and a cutout where the camera lens is). One of my suppliers says that I need permission from Apple to do so. That seems ridiculous to me, but is there any truth to that?
Thanks for any information you can provide.

I think it is true, with Apple, everything is patented
