How can someone patent stem cells (something that everyone naturally produces both as a fetus and throughout their lives)?

Patent the process for isolating those cells? Sure.

Require licensing fees for using the cells that are isolated using their technique? Okay.

Patent the actual stem cells? I don't see it.(What are they going to do? Start suing people who donate/transplant/receive bone marrow for licensing fees? After all, bone marrow produces stem cells.)
