I'm creating a calendar that accumulates dates in history. The artwork isn't original, it's just an original presentation of cultural information. Does a copyright cover this? If not, would a patent?

Please Advise.

It is covered under a copyright and you don't have to file a patent unless you want to protect the underlying ideas in your products which you don't have to. A patent is costly and the process is complex, unless the underlying idea has a commercial value you can file a patent but if you only want to protect the way you expressed an idea, a copyright is enough.

You can use trademark for this. For promoting our company we required a trademark and it is very easy to find out. It is such a simple and easy logo which represents your company. If you want more info about this you can click here: http://marques.ex pert/

Chandra is correct - a copyright automatically covers your original work. You may want to consider registering your copyright just to be safe. This is a much less expensive and lengthy process than applying for a patent, which doesn't seem necessary in your case.
