You can say it all you want, you just can't get government trademark protections for it.

What will Field Marshall Obama do about the Kansas City Chiefs, the Cleveland Indians, the Altanta Braves?

Soon you won't be able to watch anything but soccor.

Won't that be fun?

Hopefully public pressure will get them to stop using racist team names as well.

1) Obama has absolutely nothing to do with this you drooling dipsh!t.

2) Those other names are not considered racial slurs. They could be considered stupid, unimaginative, unoriginal or even inappropriate, but unlike the R word, nobody considers them to be racial slurs.

3) You loons shriek about “political correctness” and “tradition”– when this is obviously just about correcting a long-standing problem, and doing the right thing, by doing away with a BAD tradition – like slavery.

Let's see all the stubbornly stupid right-wing rednecks who think pro sports teams should keep racist mascot names walk into Native American community centers and call them ‘redskins’ to their faces.

I think they would get a whole different type of tomahawk chop than they expected.

You all need to get over yourselves. This is just more pc distraction dribble. Both parties are guilty of not tackling real issues. Not saving whales, not GMO, not scolding Dr. Oz before congress, not big gulp sodas. Now the idiot politicians want to raise the federal gas tax. Seriously people wake up. They will drain we the people financially.

None of the 3 main branches of government are involved in this.

This very same thing happened a few years ago and the ruling was reversed by a federal judge. It probably won't get reversed again, but you can bet the U.S. Supreme court will never hear a case like this.

And as far as revenue and free enterprise? Once team owner Daniel Snyder finally bows to the pressure and gives his team a new name & logo - he and the NFL stand to make great gobs of money selling all the new gear and apparel - not to mention all the old name & logo stuff being snapped up fast.

There won't be any losers here - other than the poor, gullible fans.

These are the same fans that will pay $20. for a hotdog and beer. Then cry about $30. to park a car. Fans will still go. It is all about the cranial pressure on non issues.

Just like 1993. It will be overturned again. The patent office will treat the trademarks as valid while the Redskins appeal the ruling. So, just sit back and relax for the next ten years, or so.

Political correctness is killing this fkucing country. You can't swing a dead cat without hitting someone who is sulking about his "feelings" being hurt.

Only someone stuck in a 17th century mindset thinks racism is a non-issue.

You're an idiot

Native leaders asked Redskins owner George Preston Marshall to change the team's name back in 1937 when he moved the team from Boston to D.C.- like Snyder, he flatly refused to change it even though they told him the name was just as offensive to them as it would be to African Americans if they were called the Washington N***ers.

Ironically enough - Marshall -(who was well-know to be a racist)- had to be forced by the NFL to be the last team to integrate and allow black players on his team in 1962. Bobby Mitchell joined the team that year in a trade with Cleveland and went on to become a NFL hall of famer.

Sure thing Mr. Snyder - that's some "Proud Tradition" you have there.
