I have had this company in Florida for a little over a year. Someone trademarked the name of my company in a related field. Apparently, they have an older company in the UK. The filing date of the US trademark is well after the formation date of my company. Now they are saying that I can't use my name anymore. Do I really have to change the name of my company now?

Registering a company is not related to getting a trademark for the company. Gaining the trademark is an additional and vital step, if you want to build a company around your logo/trademark. Therefore if you're the current trademark owner, you can oppose the "other" trademark. And likewise if the "other" party is the trademark owner.
Hope this helps.
