If Health Law Is Overturned, What Will Liberals Do?

Mar 28, 2012 | Posted by: JCKS Editor | Full story: thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com

If the Supreme Court strikes down all or part of President Obama 's health care law , it will have unraveled a legislative compromise that many liberals had viewed with suspicion from the beginning.

In one of the ironies of recent politics, Mr. Obama was a late convert to the merits of the individual mandate that now appears to be in danger of being declared unconstitutional.

But the president’s embrace of the mandate — and his willingness to abandon a so-called public option to get a health care deal — was a hard pill to swallow for many of his Democratic supporters.

The Affordable Care Act promises to provide health insurance to millions who lacked it. But it also stops far short of the idea that health care is a basic right for everyone living in the country. And it embraces the market-based system of private health care delivery that has long existed in America.

A growing number of scientists are starting to worry that it is the magnetic pole shift that seems to be underway that is the real culprit behind climate change. Not man made air pollution, not the sun, not the underground volcanic activity heating up the oceans, but the slow beginning of a pole shift that has been thought to destroy entire civilizations in the past and be one major factor in mass extinctions. NASA recently discovered and released information about a major breach in the earth’s magnetic field.

This breach in the earth/s magnetic field alone, in that it is allowing solar winds to enter the earths atmosphere, is sufficient to really mess up the weather. Not only is this accelerating magnetic pole shift messing up the weather it is having major effects on geopolitics. These magnetic shifts are not only capable of causing massive global super storms, but can cause certain societies, cultures and whole countries to collapse, even go to war with one another.

All yet remains to be seen, but the magnetic reversal of the earth’s poles seems to be rapidly increasing and IS affecting world weather patterns. The real question is how bad will things get before it all settles backdown to a “new normal?” At one time in history it was thought the North Pole was in the area that is now known as Hudson Bay. If the Hudson Bay area was the last locatoin of the North Pole, where will it go next? And how bad will global super storms and climate change get before it is over? And can we stop blaming each other for causing this and work together to survive it and keep civilization in tact?

Eventually all of the states will come aboard. This is one of the oddities of our federalist system. I remember in the 1970s how Arizona, the last holdout against food stamps, eventually got dragged into the future by inertia.
Stories like this are only remarkable because of the Herculean effort the Republicans undertook to try and stop HCR. It's going to become another "Third Rail" like Social Security - the opposition to it is going to continue to look more and more ridiculous.

Social security is a Ponzi scheme thats going broke. The health care is causing job losses as many employers reduce their workforce to less than 50 full time employees. health care act is just another parasitic burden on the productive makers. The parasitic takers are to nemerious and we have too few producing makers. The USA is in decline.

All nothing but Faux News Boolsheeeyit. Soc Sec is doing fine.

The only parasites are the wastrel children of the rich.

The USA is doing so much better now than when scumbags like you think it was better. The betterness you remember was predicated on the oppression of minorities, women, and the poor. In other words, what you remember as good was crap for a huge portion of your fellow Americans. That's over, and it's better. Deal with it. Your white male privileges have been cancelled.

New Fears Over Major Cataclysmic Event As Earth Reels From Nine Major Quakes In 5 Days
February 4, 2013 7 Year Tribulation, Earthquakes, Hurricanes, Tsunamis
An earthquake of magnitude 6.7 struck off the coast of the Solomon Islands (Santa Cruz) in the Pacific Ocean, the U.S. Geological Survey said on Friday.
The quake was later downgraded by the USGS to a 6.3 magnitude event. The depth of the quake was 10 km (6.2 miles) and the epicenter was 68 km southwest of Lata. But the real issue is that 9 major quakes have struck in a period of 5 days..and Scientists are running scared to death of the catastrophic consequences that may soon be unleashed on this planet.
The quake hit at 9:16 a.m. local time on Saturday. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center did not immediately issue any alerts on its website. This quake was underscored by an even stronger 6.9 magnitude earthquake that just struck the Hokkaido region of East Japan on February 2nd.
This is the ninth major earthquake to strike the planet in the last five days. The present cluster of earthquakes began with a 6.0 event in Eastern Kazakhstan on January 28th, following a full moon on January 27, 2013.
Perhaps, it may not be readily apparent to most that our planet appears to now be inching towards the spectrum of some major cataclysmic event.
This approaching black swan occurrence is characterized by the gradual escalation of geological activity of a violent seismic and volcanic nature.
44 volcanic eruptive events have already been recorded for the month of January; where there was only 77 chronicled for the entire year of 2012.
The on-going volcanic activity in Kamchatka also provides compelling testament that massive changes are now taking place within the planet’s interior. No less than 4 volcanoes on the Far Eastern peninsula of Kamchatka are erupting simultaneous, though all the volcanoes lie in relative close proximity to each other (with a 110 km radius).
Even more interesting, the magma flow fueling each volcanic system appears to emanting from a separate magma source. However, what’s even more disconcerting is the fact that Plosky Tolbachik volcano awakened from 40 years of dormancy and is now ejecting massive rivers of lava across the landscape of Kamchatka.
Russian scientists attest this is the first time rivers of lava have ever flowed from one of the Kamchatka volcanoes during the Holocene period. Large-scale protracted effusive eruptions, such as these, are generally fueled by a deep magma source.
Most originate from a magma plume from deep inside the planet’s crust. Both of the planet’s volcanoes, which have had large effusive eruptions in the past, Kileaua (Hawaii) and Mount Etna (Italy) both lie over magma plumes- Kamchatka’s Plosky Tolbchik volcano does not.
Kamchatka peninsula, which has a total land mass that is slightly larger than Germany, is one of the most active parts of the infamous “Ring of Fire,” the zone of volcanic and seismic activity that encircles the Pacific Ocean.
Three tectonic plates — the North American Plate, the Okhotsk Plate, and the Pacific Plate — collide beneath Kamchatka, with the peninsula’s coastal range boasting 30 active volcanoes. The crust is thinning here, and is becoming more fractured, as seismic stresses increase.
Ominous change in the South Pacific: The Santa Cruz seismic swarms are unfolding against an even more complex geological backdrop. Consequently, the effects of this massive seismic upheaval signals ominous change for the entire Pacific basin.
To the west, the Indo-Australian plate is breaking up, after the largest strike-slip earthquakes ever recorded, struck off the coast of Indonesia in April of 2012. The Solomon Sea Plate, to the east, is an oceanic crustal plate remnant, which is disappearing into two subduction zones, one to its north, the other on its southwest margin.

Its southeast margin runs along the Woodlark Rise, undefined compressive zone, which may be a transform fault marking the boundary with the adjoining Woodlark Plate. The northern subduction zone is located where the Solomon Plate is diving below the South Bismarck Plate to the northwest and the Pacific Plate to the northeast.

The northwest part of the subduction zone is called the New Britain Subduction Zone. New Britain in Papua New Guinea is the volcanic island formed from this collision and resulting volcanism.

The southwestern subduction zone is where the Solomon Pate is diving below the Indo-Australian Plate. According to scientists, the Indo-Australian plate may in the process of breaking up, and this heightened activity around the Santa Cruz Islands is placing additional pressures on a tectonic plate, already exhibiting strains of fracturing.

We should continue to watch the region of Indonesia for massive changes to come, including very large-scale volcanic eruptions. Nearly all of the planet’s current 15 tectonic plates, and in some cases, sub-plates and volcanic arcs are heavily stressed by the recent violent mobility of tectonic plates shaken by earthquakes.

I’ve never quite seen a pattern this fraught with potential hazards or as heavily laden with seismic tension. The planet is now experiencing a major geological crisis, and it’s showing some indication of worsening.

We are having boat loads of illegals arriving every day without 200 million Indonesians knocking on our door. All I know with climate changing the way it is, it is not safe to buy near the coast or the tropic zones anymore. Either way your house is bound to be blown over or under water. Would you believe the insurance companies now want over $5000 a year to insure homes in the northern states that have been dumped on with weather the past few years. I told you this would happen.

I dont believe folks who build in low lying flood prone areas should be able to buy insurance anyway. They should build on high ground or build a house boat on a barge.

^^ This. When we lived in Houston there was a poor white area near where the San Jacinto River crosses I-10 called Banana Bend that flooded just about every storm. Those people there got all kinds of help from FEMA - they'd get flooded out, get low interest loans, and rebuild, lather, rince, repeat. They abused the system and we subsidized their lifestyle. It's like Sam Kinison's advice tos tarving Ethiopians: "You live in a desert; move!"

All they did is copy the wall st model, lent to the greeks who could not pay and sent the country bankrupt. All this would never have happened if Reagan had not cut all the "red tape" as he called it on financial transactions. You can't blame other countries for following the Wall St model, after all in the financial world there are no borders. So if some cowboy bank is offering 2-3% higher returns on so called AAA products then it's obvious others will follow suite. Fact was that in some cases 40% of those AAA products were not worth a dime. So why should some poor bastard who saved a lifetime have to pay for a greedy banker's mistake.

Yes your correct/. The derivates market hasnt helped. If the Obama folks hadnt been funnelling money into the banks & stock market it would not be so high. This whole stagnant economy is a ponzi scheme that will eventually collapse. Now the question is Do the Cyprus parlament dare try and steal money from the Russaian Mafia? Those former KGB will extract revenge if you steal from them.

well the health cre plan snt madatory until 2014 and its allready having a negative imact. many buisnesses are reducing their workforce so they wont have to pay. There isnt any reward great enough or any punishment harsh enough to cause the USA gun owners to registar or give up their arms. That stubborn additude will carry on when it comes to the illegal & uncounstitional health care. The second admendment gives the means to disobey uncounstitional laws.

Some employers here in Indiana have already dropped their employee sponsored health insurance because it was cheaper to pay the fine than keep the employees employer sponsored health Insurance and there is more to come.

The picture frame factory in pocahontas ar terminated all of its full time employees. they replaced the forklift operator who had been there for 38 years with two 19 hour per week workers from AID Temporary. And I dont blame them. They are doing the correct thing. All of the right,s named in the Counstition & Bill of Rights where not given to the citizens by the founders. Those are inalienable Rights. They are god Given rights. A citizen has a moral obligation to disobey and not comply with uncounstitional laws. the Tax and spend economy is doomed . too many parasite takers and too few producing makers.
