So they are going to charge smokers three times now. That's rather unfair and unconstitutional.

It's onething to wish a certain behavior didn't exist. But smoking legally exists as does health care. Isn't it the job of the health care industry to take care of those who need medical care irregardless of what caused their ailment. With that logic they should charge more for the drunk who crashes his and is taken to the ER. Care is care irregardless of cause. Cause is for someone else mainly the patient to deal with.

A drunk who crashes will face the consequences, including PAYING fines and higher insurance rates. This is a new but appropriate consequence of smoking so better get used to it.

The real problem is with congress . If the health care law is supposed to be for everyone why does Congress want to be exempt from them . What and who will the next exempt class .

Charging extra for smokers offsets the cost of gas masks needed to filter their smell.

The less people use water the higher the water bill goes up to sustain the infrastructure that isn't going away . The same with booze , smoking less driving and all the other taxes to support it . They aren't going to reduce the dead wood the state has working for them .

Got any more ideas that taxes declining from less smokers will make any difference in the state coffers . They will raise taxes on anything to make up any deficits . Pretty soon the internet purchases will be taxed also .

Right , it's about time . But for what , more taxes .

You should know , smokes used to cost $1.70 American and in Canada it was $7.00 . Instead of buying American cigs the Canadians switched to English cigs . Instead of twenty cigs in a pack , the English gave you 25 to a pack . Still at $7.00 . What are they now ?

I don't give a ratsass. Never smoked. Watched my Dad turn into a useless old man by 40 and dead at 63. And i'd rather pay higher taxes on other things than to spend the billions spent and wasted on fools who ruin their own health. Once we illiminate those vermin from the picture it will sort itself out.

That is because smokers are more prone to diseases than non-smokers! This is business anyways so this is not surprising at all.

Everyone who drinks water eventually dies, should we charge everyone who drinks water three times as much because of that fact?
