Good morning..I made it to work, actually not falling asleep (yet). Thank you so much for the help last night. I am going to the store and getting a bottle off Nyquil (just in case I have this problem tonight). I cannot believe I am in a pretty decent mood considering I have not had any sleep and I was so tired all day yesterday. I took my am pill after b'fast (this is the 2nd day of taking a.m. & p.m. pills...so that means I am officially on Day 5. Still smoking as much as uusual but will put them down Friday (Quit Day) or earlier hopefully!
Thank you all and congrats again to ALL and keep up the great work!

I'm not sure why "mature adults" feel the need to ridicule people who aren't doing EXACTLY what they are doing.

Julie,

I too had trouble sleeping. I discussed it with my doctor and he suggested changing my dosage to 1 pill in the AM, a half with lunch and half with dinner, it worked great. You may want to call your doctor and see if he/she has any suggestions.

Dena, let's change subjects....How are you and your hubby doing with the no smoking? I'm on day 13 doing quite well. I still have the cravings, but they're no where near the "I could kill for a smoke" level. They're more at the "I want one, but oh well" level.

Day 47 smoke free
Day 20 or so Chantix free

Pat in California...
I, too, have the gambling addiction. It was squashed while I was on Chantix! I went to Vegas while I was taking the little blue pills and got no "rush" from the spinning wheels. Back home I did not want to hit the local Indian casinos.
BUT... now that I have been pill free for a few weeks the urge has come back full force! Yep, I want to gamble just as much as when I was a smoker! oh well...
FYI...Chantix never changed my beer habit.

<quoted text> Thanks WindyCity, good advice. However,as you probably know, acetaminophen isn't good for the liver! always something!
Try taking the diphenhydramine without the acetaminophen. It may help and spare the liver. Also, I have been told that two tylenol a day will not harm a HEALTHY liver.
Tony, I am sorry to hear about your night. You too, Julie. All I can say is hang in there! No one dies from occasional lack of sleep although it sure feels like it sometimes. I am sleeping better, still not great. I cut my pm dose to 1/2mg and take it by about 2:30pm. It has helped.

Congrats on 47 days. Did you quit Chantix on your own or did your doctor advise you to? Just curious, my Dr. gave me a 6 month prescription.

Good to know about the beer.

Good morning Viki!!! I told you a few days ago that I was going to try and wean to see if it would help the insomnia. Well, I've tried just taking the 1mg every AM for the past several days and the sleeping still sucks, so I'm going back on the full dose. Plus, last night I REALLY wanted a cigarette, one of those so bad you could taste it, but thankfully I don't have any so I couldn't. But, I still have some mint flavored Nicorette at home so I tried that. Oh My God!!!! That was the nastiest thing I think that I've ever tasted. After 2 bites I had to spit it out. I sure don't remember it tasting so bad when I smoked :-). So, I guess I'd rather take sleeping pills than ever restart smoking!!!! Hope you have a great day as well.

I think Denise is still working out her anger. It takes some longer to get over feelings of being slighted. Maybe if there aren't any angry responses, it will help. I would love to see this board avoid any repeats of the weekend.

Hi Alan...your right, time to change the subject. Hubby and I are doing well, 40 days today, thanks for asking. Congrats on the 13 days and glad that you are doing well. I still have the cravings also, they are certainly better now, but waiting for the day that I don't think about the cigs.

Hey, my cig-free buddies and especially Lisa from Mass and Tony! Thanks for asking about me several pages ago.

As opposed to the smooth sailing of the first 12 smokeless days, on day 13 (yesterday) I really had to fight some urges to smoke, particularly in the evening. GRRRRRRRR...will these urges last forever? Some ex-smokers say they go away eventually; others say they last forever. I wish I had never picked up a cigarette as a kid but, as Spanky and the Our Gang quote goes, "wish Cotton was a monkey!"

So far, today (day 14) is a bit better than yesterday. I am chug-a-lugging the water and green tea to stave off the demon. These urges aren't the nerve-wracking, al-hell-is-loose cravings you get without Chantix, but still are a real annoyance. I plan to walk the track in just a bit and I know that will help.

Well, here's wishing all of you a good day!

I am sooooo glad to see your post. I enjoy gambling a bit myself, and have gone to the local Indian casino, and have won surprisingly enough, and got no "rush". I have a few days off coming up and was thinking that maybe it would be much better if I went to Vegas instead to see if I could get that old feeling back :-). Guess I'll have to find another way to spend my money being saved on not smoking.

Actually I have no anger, just a different point of view. Was never slighted and may have preferred it if I was. Just amazed that if someone has a different way or opinion, they're treated badly and not allowed in the "click", virtually ignored.

I was under the assumption that this board was for everyone quitting smoking/taking Chantix, but found that was just not the truth. I don't really know what happened this weeekend, because I really don't have the time to go back and read every post, but if the end result is what I saw yesterday, and that everyone is welcome, regardless of the way they quit, choose to support, or choose to receive support, then this thread is much better for it.

If that's angry, then I would have to say your perception of anger is skewed. Not everyone is all lovey dovey, rah-rah, give me a hug and a kiss, blah blah blah.

Good to know about the beer.
I am a bit intimidated to reply, but...
My Dr. gave me a 3 month prescription. I inquired about staying on for 6 months and his response was that after a month the addiction was mental and I would need to deal with it the rest of my life. After taking Chantix as prescribed for 3 weeks I felt strong enough to stop. I "weaned" off them...and I feel pretty good about the whole experience. My worst side effect was the nausea. And it was bad.

Please do not attack me for following my own path. I am not advocating that anyone do the same. I am only stating my experience. It worked for me.

Hi, probably not. I've only been quit for 43 days. I'm fairly new to this site. Sarcastic or not, there is humor in some truth!
